EvilGenie -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 10:53:27 AM)

Oh I am sorry and know how you feel! I get sick for weeks at a time. I have just been sick for 8 weeks feeling wretched and we just discovered, after all this time, that it was a new medication I began. I was feeling the same, rubbery, sea sick, being sick, and missing a whole lot of work. [:'(]  With me it is usually long running, like 15 week, sinus infections that wipe me out. I am down for the count with those! God I hate it and right now am living alone as well. ICKKKKKKKK!!!!

Feel Better Soon!

A cold? It may help if you pour (soapy) water at a pleasant temperature into your nose and rinse the interior - frequently. The water will carry off the virusses and mucus and the soap will kill them.

crouchingtigress -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 3:19:54 PM)

shut up!!! really ?

cuddleheart50 -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 3:20:28 PM)

I hope you feel better really soon!  "hands you a tissue"

Rule -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 3:30:38 PM)

Yes, really. I used to rinse and sterilize the interior of my nose with whisky, but soapy water hurts less and works very well. I used to hold my nose under the tap and inhaled the water and rinsed. Then I put some liquid soap or shampoo with some water in my hand and inhaled that. The mucus is removed by the water and you can breathe again. Infection by a cold virus is an exponential process, so rinsing the virus particles away will slow down the infection.

TMI!!!!

spanklette -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 4:08:37 PM)

Comtrex...even the day time stuff works well. I hope you feel better soon! Make sure you're drinking lots! Miso soup is my cold comfort food...maybe that's just because I hate chicken noodle soup. But I hope you feel better soon! Colds are miserable. [:(]

crouchingtigress -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 4:34:50 PM)

sorry rule....i am going with comtrex over whisky or soap if this keeps up.....i just would freak out putting fluids up my nose.....but thanks for cheering me up though!!!

Marc2b -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 5:23:10 PM)

For colds and flu I'm a firm believer in orange juice and Nyquill.  Get well soon.

thetammyjo -> RE: i am sick (9/30/2007 5:27:43 PM)

My doctor did a background search and says it looks like I have the same respiratory infection I had 6 years ago that kept me down for like 3 months.

So she's given me the meds that finally seemed to have worked at the end.

She, my doctor, also told me that this is a result of my having such severe pneumonia when I was a small kid. Guess once your lungs get damaged that badly it sets you up for all sorts of problems. Don't think my high stress level is helping much either.

It really messed up my birthday plans (that was September 25th) so tonight we just opened my presents anyway. May never get to eat out or eat the ice cream we bought for the birthday in any timely fashion.

Just better be gone soon cause I have a defense in 26 days, an anniversary with my slave in 8, lots of jobs to apply for and 4 classes to teach each week.

Tomorrow my students are getting overheads with a starting note that says "I can't talk -- be quiet and take notes".

Another suggestion, perhaps?...
You can purchase a neti pot from your local "health food store"; some supermarkets and yoga studios also carry them.
Basically it is a way of washing out your nasal/sinus cavities with a saline solution in the correct proportions.
It is actually much easier than it sounds.

Best of luck to all.

She sounds like a quack to me.

That makes more sense.

I got pneumonia or something like it from eating lots of prunes and other sugar rich foods.
