I got into a debate that niether side knew the truth of it, and since it's six months til my next phsycial and I'm almost positive Web-MD won't cover this, let me ask the following for the medical professionals who might know.

with the overall effects of a licking (defined as the pretty standard stuff, flogging, caning, paddling, bare hand spanking) and the heart, is a good thing or a bad thing.

I know that endorfins lower the blood pressure and do all sorts of wonderful things for the body as a whole, but I would think during the actual stress of the beating the blood pressure woudl increase.  Naturally the positoning of the scene would matter, head down will produce more stress than arms up.  And I've known "heart patients" into their 80's indulge in what I considered a pretty serious session withuot any problems, but I thought I'd get it from somebody who paid more for school than I did before I go finish the debate.

The scene has no different effects on the body as a good workout. And exercise (getting the pulse rate up and such) is generally not a bad thing.

What she said. Those healthy enough for the stress of getting the heart rate up, it is no problem. It is the same effect on the body has exercising. BP and heart rate increase but that is the body's natural response. If you can walk up two flights of stairs without feeling short of breath, chest pain, dizzy etc then you can more than likely handle an intense scene.

Desensitized or dead nerve endings from too much impact play.  High pain tolorance, need for excessive stimulation to orgasm. There are downsides to it.........Has anyone actually done a proper medical study yet?

I mean by real doctors, not just kinksters theorizing?

I'd be interested to know this as well.  Sadly, I fear that this has never been done, since what little science of WIITWD that has been done tends to be in either social science or psychologoy.

Yup. I'm amazed by tops and bottoms that let it go that far-whatever happened to finesse?

 -Pre med student, cardiology-

Ahh, it all depends on the person and their health.
Its very situational.
But there does come a time, that say if you been playing for X-mounts of hours on and off on and off ectectect and your blood pressure keeps shooting up and down  and up and down, then your arota is going to get stressed..Your venous pressure is going to be off.lal. But that's the same for any activity. Running, jumping jacks...Ectectect.
The only thing different is the act of the body to "heal" it's self from the flogging, spankings, wax burns...ectect..I would worry more about your  hemolyzed red blood cells (which will release all the hemoglobin into your blood stream when burst), or  you just have a mess of Platelets running wild to try to clot the blood..ectect, yet all this..is only really a danger if you play for a veryvery long time.
If you want more info, just look up red blood cells, the heart, and blood flow..and what can impare it all.

Hope this helps.
