I, too, am a submissive who fervently considers my submission to be a gift. Maybe it is a romantic sentiment that gets in the way of the dynamic. I can see that being true. However...
I don't *need* dominance in my life. Nor do I *need* more people in my life to serve. I could never have another romantic relationship in my life and gain fulfillment through helping others. The reason I can give my submission as a gift to one person is because I choose to, it is not something I need in order to survive. It is something I give to one person and it is a GIFT to the person who can UNDERSTAND it.
I have never given submission or service to anyone in a romantic relationship (before now) fully aware of what that meant. As such, I have given it away, let it be trampled as pearls before swine. And now that I am giving my submission to a Dom who also feels that it is a gift... I feel a bit differently.
Basically, having given it away before and not expected anything, I can view it as a gift to give away. And, guys -- I'd also like to add that everyone out there who thinks that all gifts are freely given with nothing in return... y'all are a bit idealistic. (wink) Has anyone ever experienced practical gifts from your grandma? You know ... Gifts like a roll of stamps and pre-addressed envelopes...?
And as an aside, I'm f&@$ing beautiful and ANY man who gets to hang out with me is getting a gift, damnit!! *snaps*
