Interesting responses! For me having many very dear very kinky friends is beautiful and a blessing. For me having a partner who totlly worships me but is my dear friend too makes life even better. I have had the impersonal connections as both dominant and submissive, and never was one of those connections anything near the joy a warm connection with mutual respect, mutual trust, deep caring and that durn 4 letter "Lv" word involved.

For me its seems to have been all things there- starting out friends moving to D/s, starting out as both simultaneously which i think is the best way to go with an appropriate candidate partner as then its all up front and there's no need to worry about the surprise down the road, and started out strictly play D/s and became D/s friends over time- so all possibilities there seem to have come my way. Do think its important to retain the ability to keep the sub objectified as a slave/sub over time should a friendship deepen as it seems there's a natural pull away from severe treatment over time otherwise....

Basically, My question is this: (the OP's question) Is the 'friendship factor' involved in the BDSM dynamic you have created with your submissive? To turn this around if I may....I do not want a Dominant who is not at the minimum, a good friend. Better yet, someone I love, cherish, adore, respect and love. You have have all the kink, scening, serving, and play in this lifestyle and keep it IF there is not a special bond to the one I submit to. That's just me...respectfully, to each their own.
