Not sure if everyone knows this, but you cannot be sued for liable, for statements made on the Senate floor by a Senator. Wonder if Sen. Reid will repeat those comments elsewhere.

I believe both parties are playing underhanded, and duplicitous, and the party cheerleaders are perpetuating it.

I think the issue is hypocrisy.

Just last week,we had the MoveOn.org non-sense.And this week they forget allllll about that resolution, when one of their own(Rush) does the same thing.

It`s the hypocrisy,stupid.

(I mean these comments in general, towards all neo-cons/republicans,and to no one personally)

This is what Rush and the neo-cons are so frightened of.
Note to neo-cons:you can`t stop the truth, from being true.

farglebargle -> RE: Will Harry Reid make his comments about Rush, off the Senate floor? (10/2/2007 6:40:03 PM)

Transcript of Ad: “More and more troops and veterans of Iraq believe George Bush’s military policy has been a disaster ... I am one of them,” McGough said. “Rush Limbaugh called vets like me ‘phony soldiers’ for telling the truth about Iraq. Rush, the shrapnel I took to my head was real. My traumatic brain injury was real. And my belief that we are on the wrong course in Iraq is real. Until you have the guts to call me a ‘phony solider’ to my face, stop telling lies about my service.”

McGough's blog entry regarding said injury:
http://www.broken-skull.com/2007/06/oct-17-2003-as-seen-by-friend.html

SO... .Rush goes on the air...

"This is such a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran, lying to him about what I said and then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media and a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into. This man will always be a hero to this country with everyone. Whoever pumped him full of these lies about what I said and embarrassed him with this ad has betrayed him, they aren't hurting me they are betraying this soldier," Limbaugh said.

To which Mr. McGough replied:

" So, Rush Limbaugh called me a "suicide bomber." More slander from the high and mighty sitting in his chair nursing the boils on his ass. I can assure you that I am no suicide bomber and that I can think for myself.

Rush, your phony soldier comments pissed me off. The audacity of someone like you who never had the courage to stand and fight for what you believe in makes my head spin. That is what made me stand up and state my convictions in front of a camera. I wanted to point out that you are wrong. I am not a phony soldier. I believe that we are not doing the right thing for national security by staying in Iraq. We are putting too much strain on our military by extending tours and not giving people enough time at home to rest. We have taken our eye off of the real Al-Qaeda and let them regroup to their pre-9/11 strength. We have not developed a political system in Iraq that would enable the country to stand on its own.

I stood in the sand, snow, dirt, mud and dust of both Afghanistan and Iraq. I spent over a week on a side of a mountain in Afghanistan during Operation Anaconda. I received The Bronze Star medal for my actions during that battle. I crossed the border into Iraq with the first wave of the 101st Airborne. I sustained an open head injury on the streets of Mosul after a vehicle borne IED exploded next to the vehicle I was riding in. I have seen the aftermath of a real suicide bomber. I had loved ones who died in the 9/11 attacks. I have friends and colleagues who returned from the war in body bags.

How dare you call someone like me a phony soldier and a suicide bomber? In the commercial I just taped, I told you unless you had the guts to say something to my face, stop telling lies about my service. Well you haven’t had the guts to say it to my face, but I am waiting and the offer is still on the table."

Now that`s a man!

Makes me proud to be an American, and makes me feel safer, knowing that guys like him are serving.

We owe these men and women every consideration.IMO,one of those considerations is to remove them from a civil war zone,Iraq.

The chicken-hawks who want to keep them there, aren`t doing that to fight the war on terror. It`s for political cover,so they can claim they didn`t "cut and run".

Is losing a thousand soldiers a year(current rate of death),worth giving these jack-asses cover from embarrassment?

Neo-con/republican pride, isn`t worth even one life.

I have no idea who did what, but here are some rebuttals from Limbaugh and another fellow.

Finally, someone is exposing Limbaugh for the cowardly bastard he is. He's gotten away with this crap for far too long. I gave a donation to VoteVets a couple years ago and am glad to see they are using it patriotically.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Will Harry Reid make his comments about Rush, off the Senate floor? (10/2/2007 7:57:57 PM)

My point is that both parties are using similar tactics. This type of fighting just muddies the water of real issues.

Don't lump all republicans together, some republicans do not support the Non-Cons, because the Non-Cons do not uphold the basic ideals of the Republican party. I have noticed over the years as I have migrated between various parties, that issues often become mutable as the need for voters increase. Meaning that many politicians will say whatever will make their voting base happy. If their voting base dwindles, they often change their opinion on issues or sometimes change parties. I have little faith in either party anymore, because the number one rule of politicians is to get voted into office, not uphold any principles.

I find offensive things coming from all sides, Rush and Reid. One thing it seems it will prove to be, is interesting to watch at least.

On a seperate note, but along the OP. I would not want my Senator wasting valuable time on the Senate floor denouncing comments made by an entertainer. I would rather they spend time on Iraq, immigration, health care, budget and trade deficit, etc.

I missed it, since I have become disillusioned with the news. I usually rely on Level and his news posts. Was it interesting or a waste of time to follow?

It is hypocrisy. Last week I didn't see Reid bash Moveon.org like he is bashing Limbaugh. Why? Because Moveon.org is a major fundraiser for the Dems.

Reid is a fraud. He's a joke. And he's possibly one of the worst Senate leaders in the history of this country. His congress has the worst approval rating in the history of polling (11%). Bashing a radio show host while his Senate ratings continue to crash should be an example of how much of a joke he really is.

"While I certainly do not agree with all views that are voiced on our stations, I will not condemn our talent for exercising their right to voice them. I will always defend the right of our employees and contracted talent to voice their opinions under the protections of the first amendment."
-Mark Mays
CEO of Clear Channel Corp.

So condemn all you want Sen. Reid. Rush Limbaugh is not going anywhere. The US government doesn't have the right to stop private citizens from voicing their opinions. And any of your liberals out there that support Reid in this little adventure better wake up. One of these days you are going to say something that the government doesn't like... And when the government tries to shut you up, I wonder what your response is going to be.

And when the government tries to shut you up, I wonder what your response is going to be.

And,the  fucking republicans, taking time out of the day to debate and pass a law condemning political speech?

Is that what you`re referring to?LOL

Like w/ the MoveOn.org ad?

Hello ,earth to cyberdude,do you know what the word hypocrisy means?I`m not sure we`re speaking the same language.

How many GIs died, while that farce(the MoveOn law) was taking place?

cyberdude611 -> RE: Will Harry Reid make his comments about Rush, off the Senate floor? (10/2/2007 10:14:48 PM)

Calling our general during warfare a traitor with nothing to back it up isn't free speech. That's slander.

If Moveon made an ad that went against what Patreaus said in congress....that would be protected speech. Instead they said he is a traitor. Which is a very serious accusation to make during a time of war.
