since the party poopers are being so negative lol...i was wondering whats your favorite, have to hear, holidays are not complete until you hear it, holiday song (i realized as i was typing it that christmas was being a little ethnocentric...or a lot)
though i have not always identified as a christian...heck, this will be the first christmas that i do...i have always enjoyed traditional christmas songs, and other holiday songs, though they are not as prevelant in south texas culture, because of their simple yet gorgeous melodies that can be sung without any instruments
i'm not sure i could pick just one...but my absolute favorite to sing has to be O Holy Night...particularly when sung in a low key.... especially after hearing Tracy Chapman's rendition...
i also have a special fondness for hearing traditional songs in either their original language or translated into another language with the melody i am familiar with....

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl still brings a lump to the old throat after all these years.

For me, I don't feel the holiday spirit until I hear Grandma Got Run Over by a reindeer sung by The Rovers! There are very few christmas songs I do like hearing and that is my only favorite. Traditioinal xmas songs greatly conflict with my spiritual beliefs.

O holy night, just about any version will do, though Mariah did a great one.
And yes the little drummer boy by Bing and Bowie is awesome
