This effects us all, but how many have had the pleasure of trying to fix your computer with the new virus. Supposedly, it gets into the processor and has some way of fooling the virus scans.

Only way to get rid of it, is to delete it from where ever it is hiding.

What, I know of it is as follows...
I have a new desktop, that is telling me I have been infected and to go to this site to get the fix. Only my old virus software would kick in everytime I hit the link, saying it had just caught another virus.
I ran the scan, and it found a "java class loader"/trojan horse, and it couldn't fix the infected sections. Said something about it ending in J&M. It had attached itself to my boot drive. It also mention that on Nov 15th, my drive would be completely absorbed or whatever this thing does.

Anybody have any other info on this bug yet?

Also check out http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp?id=scan

November 15 is a long time for a virus to take to do its harm.

Other then that check out some computer forumn sites and make some posts in there.

It could also be spyware or adware trying to get you to buy certain products but alot of new virus scanners also detect adware.

Have you tried Spybot or Ad aware?

Status: offline 		I have downloaded ad-aware today and have been ruuning it back to back. On top of removing files by hand (deleting them vs letting the anti virus program do it)

This is some info on what this thing is:
Removal: 1

Many variants have no uninstaller

Integration: 2

Can cause Internet Explorer to crash

Distribution: 2

Installs in stealth
Many variants have no EULA available

Behavior: 3

Operates in stealth
Changes search settings
Changes browsing results
Program masks as doing one thing, but does another
Opens pop up windows/unsolicited websites

Privacy: 2

Connects to a remote system without the user's awareness to transmit/receive information
Tracks the user's surfing habits
Auto-updates without user permission and/or knowledge

Status: offline 		It may be based off of adware, but it is acting like a virus also. I renamed one file, in order to delete it. Another file popped up to replace it.

This thing is making the rounds, my mother, told me it had infected the computers at her work. So, I would advise everyone to keep up on their computer scans.

Status: offline 		I used " Hijackthis" and haven't had any problems... do a search, should be a free download (at least for trial)...
I don't know why it is good, just know it fixed my adware and virus issues. M

Which firewall program are you using? I know Zone Alarm (which has a free basic version) can be set up so anytime an odd program tries to access the internet, Zone Alarm asks your permission - and names the program trying to be social.

This not only limits the damage that spyware programs do but also gives you another target for deletion.

The thing that is best to do is if the antivirus software has picked up a virus or malicious file is to allow the virus software to deal with it. It will quarantine it and make it so it is safe to delete. I am not saying that it is 100% fool proof but the software is designed to deal with it. Unless you know what you are doing and have a solid system backup in place that you can roll back to in case you delete something you shouldn't have, I wouldn't recommend deleting files.

Also, do a search for Trend Microsystems House Call Free Antivirus scan. It is an online scan that will scan the system and deal with any virus that your software might not pick up. They have also added a free Spyware scan which I found useful.

My IT friend -- one of them -- reccomended "Pest Patrol". You can download and run it for free; it will show You what viruses and other bad things are on Your PC. However, there is a charge to remove them; i believe this gives You an annnual membership, but to be honest i'm not sure. i have "Pest Patrol" downloaded as well as Ad-Aware and Spybot, and even after running them, "Pest Patrol finds almost a page of "bad things". Kinda scarey, but i'm a bit tight with money and unable to pay $50 or so for removal.

Warning:i downloaded and used a freeware program called "X-Cleaner" and it removed everyting from my C-Drive. Since i had not backed up my files, i lost all my work. i would not advise using this program.

Finally; i would suggest You try to determine when the virus/bad thing entered Your system and use "system restore" to get rid of it. If You need help using "system restore", send me an email. Basically, You would reset Your PC to a date before the virus entered Your PC, in hopes this would eliminate Your virus. Files and work are unaffected by system restore.
