No. This is one of the only sites im a member off that does not lock threads. Usually within about 2 or 3 weeks after the thread has ended it is locked and deleted as people changed or events change or people leave. Or just locked so no more can be added.

Wow, that's harsh.

Not really. A thread recently was replied to from last year yet some of the main people had left.
What was the point of keeping it alive? Plus keeping old posts uses storage space and means more costs to CM

That makes sense, imtempting. I changed my mind. I think they should be locked after awhile now too... maybe they could make an exception for polls though, and threads like that, they could always be replied to without any problem... plus they're fun.

I have often seen new posters 'bitch-slapped' within the CM forums & elsewhere on the net.

The key word here is new.

Many of these people are asking the questions for the first time even though many have of us have discussed it to death for years. Keep in mind that this new person had to make a big step to open up & ask these questions in the first place.

If you are not someone who has the patience, tolerance & finesse to help new people on the boards with reoccurring questions, don't post to their questions!! I personally find it more irritating to see people berate others by making the simple errors that I am sure they also made when they were new. Being on the net doesn't mean people come online with perfect 'netiquette'.

I don't agree with this. The fact that the "main people" are no longer on the site doesn't mean that someone new won't have something interesting to add to an old thread.

As with the thread from the other week it turned intoa flaming contest last year and this year the person that opened it again said a direct comment at someone that was no longer an active member of CM.
