Their car was run off the road by paparazzi.  Bless her spirit, and those of the other two people in the car, and their loved ones.

How about option 4:  don't know, don't care

If she was murdered, then all the elvis sightings and alien abductions are real too. simple stories, for simple minds.

"How about option 4:  don't know, don't care"

That's the skip this thread option, isn't it?

The majority I would think would take what the official liine of truth is - poporazzi killed them - or are partially responsible, along with the drunk driver who was driving her limosine....

I cannot imagine what benefit it would be to cover anything up would be....

Wasn't she already thru her divorce?  if there is a motive - say they prince had no option of divorce to be with his true love, Camille - its theoretically possible.

I just cannot imagine that many people including the news helping to cover it up.....

Its the same with the 911, there is no conspiracy because too many people would have to be in on it to make it even plausable....Conspiracy theorists don't take into account two skyscrappers fell, and that falling debris caused damage to other buildings.....

Now wait a minute.  Diana was a lovely lady- who did nice things. I was sad when I got home form work- and heard on the radio that she was killed. i was waiting for a joke punchline and it never came.

i get the impression she was more liked in the US and Canada.

why did they wait so many years?  i dont think i could have drove thru that tunnel sober- at a high speed and not wrecked.

it was vulgar that they tried to get pics of her demise!!!!

I did a research paper on Princess Diana in college.  It got an A+++.
I think it was a simple accident.   No one planned, it but Prince Charles was mean to her.   He was dating Camila Parker Bowes right up until the wedding and throughout the marriage.
Just think.  He will be king one day.
At least we get to vote on our President.  A lot of good it does!

My answer is no of course not.  The driver was drunk and they were running from the press.

Regards, MissSCD

It is indeed. I'm always amazed more folks don't exercise that option.

I'm puzzled by the persistance of Diana-was-murdered theories, particularly in the absence (so far as I know) of any evidence to support them. Perhaps folks find it less painful to assume she was killed than the confront the randomness of her death--and, by extension, of much of life.

susie -> RE: So with all the recent inquiries what do you think was Princess Diana murdered? (10/6/2007 9:03:39 AM)

Part of the responsibility lies with Diana herself. She chose to dispense with her official bodyguards, the ones that were trained in Royal Protection. The whole situtation at the Ritz would never have got to the pantomine it did had she had regular Royal Protection Officers dealing with the press etc. It was her choice to dispense with them.

FullCircle -> RE: So with all the recent inquiries what do you think was Princess Diana murdered? (10/6/2007 9:19:48 AM)

I’ve not seen any evidence that it was anything more than an accident. I also think the idea that she was killed because she was having a relationship with Dodi is completely unsubstantiated and tarnishes her image. Not that I care, I hated the woman because she was manipulative and publicity seeking. I think she should have spent more time walking through fields with landmines or observing operations on dying children whilst wearing inch thick make up on her face.

The worst thing about this is the absolute waste of public funds that all these inquires have cost. It’s a bit like dissecting a lump of meat after you have chewed it up and spat it out; the truth was lost long ago so why bother trying to find facts? If you are desperately searching for facts that there is no evidence of it only leads to facts being made up. Also think of her children having to hear all this again and again, I’d hate that.

Actually, suspicion of an intentional plot are not foundless.  I saw a a piece on it - was it Frontline? - some time ago, and they interviewed her male companion's father, who discussed some of the reasons he was having his son's death investigated, as an assassination of him, Diana and the driver being incidental casualties.  I don't remember the details, but there was good reason to investigate the possibility.

That said, I thought it clear that they were murdered - by the wreckless actions of a greedy pack of paparazzi, who ran them off the road, and in the process, killed them.

yep gotta say don't really care

velvetears -> RE: So with all the recent inquiries what do you think was Princess Diana murdered? (10/6/2007 10:42:17 AM)

i am neutral, i can't say i care any more about this than hearing anyone else died - a mommentary ohhh how sad then back to living my life. As to whether it was accidental or not, any opinion i had would be pointless. i tend to think whoever is perpetuating the murder angle is doing so to keep interest alive so they can make money somewhere along the line.  Paparazzi made tons  off her when she was alive, now that shed dead they have to come up with some angle.

Yes, but the monarchy in the UK have slightly less power than their corgis. We stll have an elected priminister.. oh, hang on.. no we don't
The fact our new unelected leader is likely to be infinitely beter han the grinning fool the public chose does not bode well for democracy as a whole.

OK, opinion. If it was murder, and MI6 were involved, there'd be no question of whether it was murder. It would have been a much simpler accident.

Knock knock
. Who's there?
Princess Diana
. Princess Diana who?
You're on the Jury

LadyEllen -> RE: So with all the recent inquiries what do you think was Princess Diana murdered? (10/7/2007 6:25:34 AM)

If it were murder then we'd see clear motive, means and opportunity.

Troubling is, that whatever the truth is, there is clear motive, means and opportunity present here. The establishment as a whole would be greatly unsettled by the idea of the mother to the heir of the throne being married to a Muslim for one - far too close for comfort for an elite which still has issues over Catholics, let alone a non-Christian having such access to the one day King. And a Muslim at that who happens to be the son of a Muslim with whom they have already had multiple clashes. The deaths are therefore at the least rather convenent to certain parties.

As far as means and opportunity go, what better for someone intent on removing the perceived issue than a car crash? A relatively common phenomenon all in all, that whilst tragic is not overly unusual in the modern world. And for the crash to occur in a friendly but foreign country, at night in a tunnel is all the more convenient. Knowing that the two would be pursued by paparazzi would provide yet more convenient cover for an assassin, or a group of assassins, to follow along and execute their mission relatively unnoticed as not being out of place, attired and behaving alike with the group. It also remains a mystery to this day according to the father of Diana's boyfriend, as to why their driver was allegedly drunk at the wheel, when apparently he never drank when driving.

Far more troubling though, is that even if this were a planned assasination, then the truth would never be known. This is why all these enquiries are just an unnecessary consumption of funds - if it were just an accident or a murder, the outcome will be that it was just an accident. Better to save the money, rely on the French enquiry and let the whole thing rest.
