And how long will you live. I think I will make it till age 82. In my 30s I had exhausted my be wild stage. Now in my 40s I made it to an early retirement.  I know what pain is.

Age is how old you feel.  I think over the hill is when you literally can't walk over the hill anymore.
You're damn old then.  Whether 20 or 80

I feel like I’m a hundred somedays. These old bones of mine can make it up the hill but only on a good day such as Sunday. I whittle away me time talking with friends on public transport about all the surgical operations we have been through. The sole purpose of this is to depress the younger generation by telling them they'll be old one day and parts of them will be man made. Ooooo my hip, if only I had had it done before them wooden hip replacements were outlawed.

I have no idea of the concept of what being over the hill is! Even with the usual aches and pains of aging, I enjoy life more now and impatiently waiting to continue this exciting journey through life. When I take my last breath, all I will say is This has been one hellava ride!

velvetears -> RE: age is a #, when is over the hill?, describe (10/6/2007 10:36:09 AM)

Over the hill is when you are so exhausted from the trip you can't make it back down and you fall tumbling down the other side

Not really back Roger....been real busy.  Work and school...etc.  I'll tell you about it next time I talk to you.

mistyeyze -> RE: age is a #, when is over the hill?, describe (10/7/2007 12:53:50 PM)

over the hill seems to be a more advanced age the older i become...there was a time when i didn't want to be older than 35...now in my 60's, i don't feel much different than i did when i was in my 20's....well, except that it takes me a little longer to work the stiffness out of my arthritic joints caused by living this life to the fullest i could manage without actually ending it  [:D]

murmur -> RE: age is a #, when is over the hill?, describe (10/7/2007 1:10:02 PM)

I dont remember exactly the sentence...but it goes...something like this = It's better to get out of life old and rippled, thinking you made the most of what you had, then looking back, having passed most of your life getting away from the fear of pain and of life itself, thinking i wasted my time, there is so much more that i could do out there...
At 21, i hope i'll make the most of it. I enjoy everyday to the fullest and will try to do so, even 10, 20, 30 years later...
whoa, right now, those seems so far away from me...

pahunkboy -> RE: age is a #, when is over the hill?, describe (10/7/2007 1:35:45 PM)

- I can tell you this Mur, there are things like school and travel- that if you dont do when you are younger- it is harder when you are older. I am glad I travelled as now it is harder to get away.

LaTigresse -> RE: age is a #, when is over the hill?, describe (10/7/2007 2:49:27 PM)

I don't think about "over the hill". I am also planning on living until at least 105. I adore life and all of the wonder and surprises it has to offer. Getting older doesn't bother me at all. People that have pathetic negative attitudes about their own aging process, that bothers me.

My body is 51, my mind is 20, go figure.

Over the hill?  When I can't pick up a sword.

How long will I live?  For about a second after the last time I say, "I love you."

These are not romantic notions.  These actually fit me rather well.

Being as today is my birthday, this seems an apt topic to address. Maybe age doesn't have to BE a number. I think I will start using the Roman numerals instead. Today, I turned L.
