Over here we got a TV show called "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader ? ".

While I detest the telly in general, I might have to take in a few episodes of that. It's hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, go figure. Saw part of one and someone was really pretty stupid, and they flashed on the screen that the contestant had graduated college with a three point something GPA. It is a bit disturbing that I was not surprised in the least.

PS, I can't stand Howard Stern on so many levels, but I did have him on the alarm clock because it rarely took him long to say something that pissed me off. That was back when I had to be at work on time. So naturally I would get up and shut it off and go to work. Eventually I gave the alarm clock away because now I set my own hours. But the point is that Stern had these Man on the street inter views during which people are asked questions to which kids in elementary school should have correct answers, like how many planets there are in our solar system. I mean these things make me wonder how the hell we ever sent a Man to the moon.

in the deffense of the people who go on "are you smarter than a 5th grader" the kids on that show are actors and are fed the answeres either beforehand or during the show...there was a fairly large tantrum about it some time ago, though i dont know why...did people REALLY thing these kids had those answeres on their own? its a show to get ratings, and those ratings only stay up when the show delivers what it promised; people with PH.d's getting their asses wooped intellectually by 5th graders. gone are the days when people were allowed to be genuenly stupid or smart on television! now, EVERYTHING is scripted, even "reality" tv......how sad.

Jack, I don't disagree, but some of the questions..................

Maybe some things are rigged, and maybe the kids are fed the answers, at times or all the time. But some of these questions should have been easily answerable by anyone with a diploma.

I always loved watching contestants on "who want’s to be a millionaire" get all nervous and blow one of the absurdly easy early questions.

Regis: "First question. How many sides does a triangle have? A) one B) three C) nine or D) 257,000

Contestant: "unmm... ahhhh... I think I’d like to ask the audience.

Regis: "are you sure you want to use a life line this early? Think about it for a moment. How many sides does a triiiiiiii-angle have?
