oh yea...don't stifle their creativity, but do make them learn the essentials...i've seen it go bad both ways....piano playing so rigid its no fun...and no structure doesn't get you anywhere....

Many times you can find an upright for free, someone that wants to get rid of theirs and discovers that to do so they actually have to pay to have it removed. This should leave you money to get it tuned up as needed. Good luck.

Many years ago, I tried to give one away for months, due to an impending move up stairs...now I'm paying a bundle to have my grandparent's upright grand stored until I find a bigger dwelling.
