Tame how?

I sometimes think people are closeminded when it comes to other peoples' kinks ... And there are some kinks that not that many people are into. (or at least openly into)

But I don't understand the meaning of tame ... In this regard.

Lets face it, most of the Doms I have met (with a few exceptions) are hardly alpha males, and personally I find the scene in a lot of the clubs I go to, rather tame.
Very Safe, lacking in passion, more about ego and acting into play roles than raw primal passion and a lust for living on the edge.

I would not consider knife play, suffication, flogging, etc tame at all.  That is the club I was trained in by a Domme who was wonderful.
If you are into some dangerous, kinky things, I am hoping you will not find it in a club.

Most of the scenes I've watched in the local dungeon and at play parties have been fairly tame, however there have been a few that made me sit up and take notice. It didn't appear to me that they seemed to be showing off either, they were just engaged in a lighter form of play. I've only been to a few play parties and to the dungeon 4-5 times so who can say....maybe those were just light nights.

It’s a bit of a stupid question to ask really because I’m not in your area and you aren’t in mine. What exactly is this monolithic all encompassing BDSM community you speak of? I could show you some shocking scenes.

perhaps a real "alpha male" does not need to prove himself to you or anyone else

I went to a play party, and one guy was doing some seriously extreme knitting.

so were you expecting to find Doms who beat, whip ie abuse their submissives/slaves to death?  or were you looking for the cheesy American porn feel of BDSM?
