Without a physical body.

Okay.. so.. if we are spiritual beings aware before going into a body, wouldnt it follow that once we die we would continue and then go into another body.. so, what truly would it matter if one of the bodys we were going to go into expired very quickly... we are just going to go into another.. and it is likely that next would have the means to provide for a better life, so wouldnt that be a potitive at least.. not negative thing..?

If there is a God how are the parents and doctors etc. going to explain their actions? Just a thought from a childless male.

BigMrStew -> RE: Abortion (10/14/2007 3:13:46 PM)

How about.... life begins at conception ?

If it doesn't then it questions when it is permissible to end any life.

And after the get done gunning for women, who is next?  I got to say if they do outlaw abortion, I will move.  I love the USA, but if my abililty to choose goes out the window, then this country will have ceased to be what I thought it was.

This premise (especially with the sensibilities of today) is absurd, because abortion becoming illegal overnight will never carry the persuasion to outlaw birth control in today's permissive, sex-driven society.

The whole issue is absurd as those against it are "against the murder of innocents", and those for it are "for the woman's choice". HUH? They can't even argue cohesively. On one hand there is the legislation of morality issue, as well as the determination of when the fetus is a living being (granted, one can question science).

On the other, the same people who want to assert what a woman can do with her body are suddenly splintered over the prostitution issue (which is substantially the same issue that they are fighting for).

Finally, no good can come from this topic, because the only thing that people are on the same page over with this issue is the passionate conviction by which they cling to their beliefs.

when no brain waves are detected a person is concidered "braindead" at that point a person may choose to disconnect the machines hooked to them keeping them alive ... a fetus does not always have brainwaves.. the earlest i have read that brain waves are detected is 10 weeks, so untill that point  i think it should be legal for the fetus to be disconnected to what is keeping the fetus alive, being the mother.

CuriousLord -> RE: Abortion (10/14/2007 9:03:48 PM)

What's a "brainwave" and why should it be the basis for determining human value?

BigMrStew -> RE: Abortion (11/16/2007 7:46:48 PM)

Life begins at CONCEPTION. Regardless of quality of life. If we as a society start to question at tennent, then where does it stop? Your Grandma gets cancer,Do you authourise the doctors to abort her life because it's inconvienient?
The way I see it is LIFE is LIFE regardlee of when it starts or ends.

empathizing with a blob of cells?  no, not logical.  how can you empathize with anything that isn't remotely self aware?  something that wouldn't even notice if it died?
