Susan, don't feel bad, my mom named me for some odd reason because she was reading about the newspaper obits and saw the name Susan and thought.."Oooo that is nice n different'. Uhhg like wtf. She may as well have given me a prom corsage from a tombstone. Gods, no wonder I'm so deathly bitter.

[:)]came4u: Actually, it is almost eerie, when I think about that, IMO. I know you were being funny, and I am not offended at all (no way, no problemo) - because I have no problem with it now - BUT - in my late teens and early 20's I did find out I have a chemical-biological depression "issue" that is pretty severe, and for which I take meds (for uni-polar depression) that I will be taking for the rest of my life. I am fully functional, and I live a full life - and am not "sufferring" because of that. But - ironically, I went through a "rough period" (very) in my early 20's before I found a medication that worked for me (an effective anti-depressant). It is ironic - and I have sometimes wondered why that happened, and if there was some weird "cosmic destiny" thing going on there with the origin of my name. But it is all under control at this point in my life (and has been for over 20 years). - Susan

My oldest brother is named after my father, Joseph Thomas, and both go by Joe. (though when my brother was in school, he went by Joey.) I used to dread answearing the phone and someone asking for Joe and having to ask junior or senior? because alot of people acted weird when I didn't automatically recognize their voice. sighs My dad admited to me a while back, that he wished he hadn't named him, used another family named like Harry or Clare. (I had an great uncle named Clare.) As for my name, Sarah, I like the meaning that the Baby Name book, (Princess and One who Laughs. I am the youngest and only girl; I am usually laughing at someone or something.) I knew about 4 or 5 girls in school with my name, 2 with the same middle name. Lynn and 2 cousins. I tried going by the name Sarina, but it doesn't seem to stick. I am hoping my 1st UM will be a girl, I want to name her Asaia Carol. (Asya.) Asaia is the name of a Bird Goddess in a series that I love, and Carol is my mom's name. I have yet to find boy's names that I really like, though I might go with Taliesin. (Welsh Bard, associated with Merlin and Arthur.) lol Of course that all depends on whether or not my future husband wants to have a say in the naming.

Yes, am serious. Is it kinda Karma induced? Is it just fluke? She also claimed that the same paper was the news of a two headed baby. (I never did research who that was or what happened). Yes, Nostradamus (as we spoke of before) predicted of a two headed baby, yet had 4 arms and legs. So not sure what that implies. Not that I am vain enough to think I am part of some earthly conspiracy of me me me, but, are we all chosen to be 'whatever' from birth and our name is just a way of 'whomever' to keep track of Susan 47382 vs Susan 9104? Two headed hmmm...does that mean I will have dual citizenship??? *pulling my hair out (of both heads) lol

As for your other question, I believe we all have an individual desitiny, and that our Guardian angel(s) know exactly what that is, from the time we are born. Even if we don't. Then again, nobody has to take me believing that all that seriously, after all - I do take meds [:D] (hehe. Just teasing, and poking fun at myself - but I haven't got a problem with it. They work). When my brother, sister and I were born, my mother thought all our names were too "older" sounding for little babies... so she called us all .... susie. yep... even my brother. With three kids born in two years, she evidently thought susie was easier to remember than the names she'd given us. What's funnier is that the given name on my birth certificate is a shortened version of a larger name - spelled with an i vs a y..because... my mother didn't like names that were shortened to y-names (billy, susie, bobbie)... course, my name DOES end in a y-sound and she DID call us all susie. Don't ask me what her rationale was! I haven't ever figured that out!! On the other hand, my given name is a derivative of the name of a girl who once saved her village by sleeping with the general of an army and then, when he was sated, chopped his head off.... which is a REAL interesting story to tell (with just the right amount of fascination and excitement) in bars to men who don't take no for an answer. So, I've grown to love my name. juliet

I don't know if it was the Siamese twins, the firsts documented of that kind were often seen in circuses since they began, I think that is all they knew what to do with such cases of 'oddities' due to social barriers and income. I do believe (and I should look it up) that this was an actual two headed, one body person that didn't live long enough to even make a second headline.

But even a post-partum depression - would that make someone call their boy by a girl's name? It's not the end of the world, for infants, but still - is he okay? How old was he when she stopped doing it? hehe). came4u: I always felt sorry for Siamese twins. Epescially if they lived, and could not be separated (like Chang and Eng, from Asia, in the early 1900s, who joined a circus - and were quite famous, in their time, I've read. Though they both married, and had children - I have sometimes wondered just how this worked - as they were not able to be surgically separated from each other. In any case, I am glad they worked it out, apparently. - Susan

Did all parents back then have sooooooo many kids they forget our names? I was called by all of my sister's names before she got it right. Even my brother's name was tossed in there..somehow. Eventually, I wore my brothers hockey gear and she didn't notice except that one less female was in the house...she didn't figure out which one. lol Mental note: parents of the children of the 60's 'guestimated' at parenting and hoped at least one child would answer to a given name and that they would rat on the others that weren't present.

I just saw you last Saturday and again this Friday and I didn't notice!! You really are?! Helpful hint to the naming of boys: They have to go through school with whatever name you give them and in middle school/high school, the need to fit in is HUGE and the kids (boys and girls, but especially the boys) are viciously cruel. Just a thought as you consider names. When my sister was looking for names for her son, she'd pass them by me. I'd ask the experts. I'd take them to school, ask the kids there and report back their professional advice as kids who had to deal with their parents' ideas of neat names. She LOVED Dieter. She has a German name and it really does sound good with Dieter. I took it to school Dieter - Peter- Penis - Dick - Cocksucker Dieter - Diet - Your mom's so big ...(and she is) Those are the two I remember the most clearly. But you get the message. Eventually, she decided on Brian cause the most the kids could come up with was Brain and she thought that was just fine. Since I work in a school filled with D'Marco's, Shanishras, Auricos, Shaniquas, and a lot of other names that the kids get teased about on a regular basis, she took my word for it.. well, she took THEIR word for it. juliet juliet
