DiurnalVampire -> Appreciation (10/8/2007 3:14:34 PM)

We don’t tell people often enough that we appreciate them.  I am guilty of it, I know it. Recently, I lost a very close friend. She was killed in a hit and run in NYC, on her way to church. This tragedy was complicated by the fact that she had announced very happily that same morning that she was finally pregnant. She was out way earlier than usual, heading in to church to tell the congregation her wonderful news when someone cut her down.  I did, however, get a phone call earlier today that they found and arrested the driver. I feel better now, knowing that, and having spoken to her widower who was also a close friend of mine.  Cece will definitely be missed.

I would not have made it through last night if it hadn’t been for Angel.  Granted, he and I had a bit of a disagreement that night, neither of us working under all the information we needed not to get on one another’s cases.  However when it was all said and done, he was my calm in the storm last night. There is something to be said about someone who understands how to listen without trying to make you feel better and saying all the normal platitudes about someone being in a better place.  When I asked him to come over to me, he didn’t try and hold me and shush me like most everyone I know always does.  He turned his back to me, leaned on my side, and let me hold him. He didn’t ask me if I was alright, he already knew. And once I was done taking about it, it was over.  We didn’t bring it up again.

He always can brighten my mood, though last night it was more saving my sanity. We eventually went out for dinner, and we had some of the most ridiculous conversations I have ever taken part in. Our conversation during a long and completely unnecessary walk to the grocery store to buy soda, ranged from only eating the ugly animals to worshipping bunnies and the wonders of US Military surplus stores.  By the time we made it to the store and bought our sodas we were both so tired we couldn’t get the caps off either drink. We sat on the bench outside, laughing our heads off at how pathetic we both were being bested by cola. It felt SO good to laugh.

It isn’t said often enough, how much we appreciate someone. I try and remember to tell my friends, I end most phone calls with I love you. However, no matter how many times you say it, you will always feel like you should have said it one last time. He doesn’t read the forums, so I will be cutting and pasting this entry to Angel so he can see it. However, I wanted to put it here also. So many people have heard me talk about him often, and with the usual rush of negative posts, I thought a positive one would be a nice change.  I also want to tell all of my friends on here, and you all know who you are, how much I appreciate all of you as well. You are the ones I turn to when things with Angel aren’t exactly going to plan, or when other little things come up. You all keep me sane (scary though it might be sometimes) and for that I want to say THANK YOU

What's scary is it's some of us (riddled with insanity) that keep you sane....

**big big hugggggggggs****

Some of us truly love you and want to take this opportunity to tell you thank you right back for the same reasons, although we(at least me) do not say it nearly as eloquently.

**huggs again**!!!!(that was a spare to share with Angel!!)

I think sometimes we take friends and those close to us for granted. Thank you for bringing us (or me in this instance) down to earth. I for one am glad to call you friend.

It is an all to common human failing – we get caught up in the daily minutia of life and come to take for granted the people in our life who enrich us in so many ways. Lord knows I am guilty of it myself.

My deepest condolences.

I am so sorry about your friend!  That is truely a sad story.  But [!] I am glad you had Angel there to help you through!  Thank you for sharing all you said!  It is a great reminder of what we might need to consider or remember.  I love reading about you and Angel and I'm so happy for you both!

Thank you for sharing your sorrow and your joy!  You are an inspiration!  Take good care!
