Wrong question. Right question is why, if you know that what you need is a one on one relationship, you get involved with those who seek stables instead of monogamy. Why aren't you asking sooner where they stand on poly/monogamy? Why you are attracted to only those people who aren't looking for what you look for?

why do little old ladies collect cats? I dont know...I collect John Deere memorabilia...some people collect base ball cards....shrugs...to each their own.

Yeah, but people are not things.

The little old ladies who collect cats often can't bear to part with them.

Maybe some dominants want to collect experiences, not people.

Well actually that brings to mind a guy I know who collects women.  He fills his house with them if he can, and then ignores them.  They say he spends every waking moment on the computer, searching for more.  They say after an initial blush of playtime, the SM and bondage part of their relationship seemed to be over, and the D/s part soon followed into history. Each woman lasted a few months, and got out on their own, always with acrimony.  Yes he is on this site.  Some of the women he has collected are on here too. I don't know where he is doing all that hunting on the computer, but know
that one of those women was found here in his daily searches.

This guy seems to me to be into "conquests".  He rejoices in each "find", and then for him the thrill is over, so he moves on.   Probably this over-simplifies what is going on.

What is the purpose of having countless slaves with the sole objective of just beating them?

a matter of ego

that's how i saw it when my former wanted a stable of submissives at his beck and call at all times (especially if i wasn't available)

Do others imagine having a slave/submissive to guide them in a positive manner? That is my goal.

I don't have relationships where it's the d-type's resposibility to "guide" the s-type - at least, not any more than the reverse is true.  I have d/s relationships because it fulfills me to be with that person in that manner for whatever reason.

My d/s relationships are about service, sex, play, and mutual fulfillment - not always in that order.  I like functioning adults for my relationships, people who don't need to guide or be guided more than anyone in any mutually fulfilling relationship might.

Because once you toss that slave down the stairs, unlike a slinky, you tend to need to have another one to keep the fun going. So it's best to have a lot on hand for a boring afternoon.

I think this was beautifully stated and I note that it was also ignored by the OP.

I notice it seems easier for folks to cast themselves as victims or others as wrong than it is for them to question their own ideas, motivations, and behaviors. I have difficulty seeing how this way of looking at things may result in any positive changes in the future. I think it only increases the likelihood it will happen again and again but we cannot honestly control anyone as much as we can control ourself I think (even that takes work).

Your post says "in reply to PonyGroom" but I didn't ask a question.

When you used the word "you", did you mean the OP?

Neither Kirby nor I are involved with those who seek stables of partners, nor are we seeking stables of partners. We play a lot with human ponies, but owning them isn't on the agenda. Our "stables" are full.  Maybe I need to update my profile. She is super clear in hers.
