there are lots of sites with cool furniture meant for bondage, but they're trying to make a living and so costly... for those of us on a budget, look at used real-wood pieces. a few cans of spray-paint and you get a matching room full of furniture...           hope this helps- phoenix

Everything that I've seen for sale is hugely expensive.  Granted there is a lot of great workmanship and materials, but in the end it is just bondage funiture.  In many cases, you can do much better building the stuff yourself or modifying normal furniture.  It requires some skill and tools, but not very much.  Just to give you an idea, there are many places selling St. Andrew's Crosses for $500 or more.  Even using nice wood (not construction lumber), it cost me about $150 to do it myself ($250 if you include the tools I bought as well).  If you're willing to use not-so-nice construction lumber, you can build the same cross for about $50-60.  I'd suggest building it yourself.

Just pop out to IKEA.  Really.  While they have yet to openly manufacture the PERVERS modular bondage system that you can assemble with just an allen key, they've made a pretty good start on it.  Look for a product called STOLMEN in the section with wardrobes and dressers and the like.

i agree with the earlier posts.  It's alot more fun, customizable, and inexpensive to build yourself.  And i'm sure your Mistress can find someone crafty and willing to help out if she will play them.  Just like the movie says, "If you build it, they will cum."

Use a lot of imiganation. You will find that much can be built by you with minimum expense. A simple wooden sawhorse, well padded is easy, add some attached ankle or wrist restraints, which can be easily attached, with velcro. A nice spreader made from a mop or broom wooden handle and attachment of velcro or handcuffs. A well attached large eyebolt in your ceiling roof truss or floor joists along with some good, strong, soft, cotton rope and you can have a sub tied and hanging for your suspension uses. All padding and velcro available at a Wal-Mart, etc.

I beg to differ. There are many reasons to pay more for good furnishings. Superior materials, attention to detail and design, ease of set up and take down, durability, safety, hygein and sanitation.

I make dungeon gear and furnsihings semi professionally (supplementing my regular furniture and cabinet shop). I've yet to see a self built piece that matches my quality. This is true from the start, but the difference becomes rather glaring after they have been in service for only a little while. My stuff works, performs, holds up under usage in the long term, and is safe. Safety is the biggest concern in my mind. Why attach a submissive to an unsafe, unhealthy and unsanitary piece of gear? There is no good reason I can think of.

So while you're debating on getting that third $500 singletail, you might want to reconsider that rickety old spanking horse, St. Andrews cross or suspension frame. I know my gear is of high quality, but there are other high quality makers as well.

For Slavetoobey:  I've purchased some portable saw horses from a Home Dpot, Etc., & I've had them to plane a few 2 x 4's @ various lengths.  Let your imagination be your guide.

You can try haunting your local outdoor fleamarkets, and thrift stores. I turned an old weight bench into a spanking bench. I seem to recall I gave $3 for it, and all I had to do was hacksaw off the vertical weight supports, file off the rough spots, and give it a coat of black spray paint. Then, just drill a few holes, and attach eyebolts into the square steel frame. The finished product looks very professional.

Also, try metal scrap yards... I found a pair of six foot diameter metal rings at one time, which would have made a beautiful standing bondage frame with very little modification. (Unfortunately, I had no way to transport it home at the time.) But I see things that would work all the time!

Most people who build a cross use 2x6 pieces eight feet long which is about 20 board feet of wood.  You can buy cheap oak for $4 a bf so that is $80 in material for the wood alone and that assumes you can find perfect 2x6s that don't require any work.  Use any sort of nice wood like Cherry and you are looking at $7+ for curly cherry which means $140 just for wood, not counting hardware, finishing materials, or tools to work the wood.

You may not be able to afford premade furniture but it is CHEAP as are the people who whine about it.  Look at what Ikea charges for chipboard garbage.

The best thing to build yourself is a spanking bench out of a premade $20 saw horse from Home Depot.  Paint it black, put some padding on it and presto, a spanking bench.

The bdsm furniture I build costs as much as some people's cars which of course means I don't often get commissioned to build it but when I do.  That is why I make trinkets because it is all most people want to pay for.

i agree that the materials can become expensive,but after spending hrs/hrs scouring the internet the cheapest cross of quality with enough pics to actually see the item was 385.00. the materials dont come close to that,and justifying the rest is in my opinion greed.the above price doesnt include shipping/handling.as stated by another about wood prices this can get expensive.i'm not knocking those who charge that price but as we do travel to various events and mingle with the masses most cannot afford that kind of change for the luxory.

you cam make a nice affordable cross out of pine that will stand longer than your house if done properly along with a poly stain(cheery stain works well with a dungeon setting)and you can make a cross during the w/end.3 coats of stain and wala- you have a piece of usable furnture that is cheap and yet gorgeous to look at and can with stand the abuse of heavy play.
as stated by another poster safety and ease of use is paramount along with looks.

It is funny how often those who whine about "greed" are Republicans.  I am a left wing commie pinko liberal but  allowing someone to earn a profit from their labor seems like a reasonable proposition.  You of course forget that this person has a website they pay for, has to have machinery to make things, spent time learning a skill, has to screw around shipping stuff, etc.

Or am I wrong and you only charge your employer for gas and material and give your time away for free?

I am always willing to give someone help and advice to build their own, I think the more people who build their own the better, crosses and spanking benches are simple to build.  I would not however, begrudge and accuse of being greedy someone who spends their evenings and weekends making things for others.

Well said.  I'm a do-it-yourself kinda guy and I support other people building their own stuff as well.  However, I'm not against someone making a decent profit either.  Having built some fairly nice pieces out of quality poplar, I have a pretty good idea of why the price is so much greater than just the materials.  Sure I did a nice job of sanding all my pieces down, put a nice stain on them and then a layer of polyeurethane (sp?).  But I didn't go to the lengths it would take to make them good enough to sell to anyone other than a close friend.  A few more coats of finish and a nicer sanding job would have easily trippled (or more) the amount of time and effort on my part.  Even at minimum wage, that adds up quickly.  Also consider that as far as I know, none of this stuff is made in a nice factory that is specifically setup to cut down the time and cost of each piece by cranking out 10 zillion of them - like what is done for most normal commercial furniture.  So I don't think anyone making and selling furniture is even close to greedy.  Perhaps they aren't an option for people on a tight budget...

i'm sorry no matter how you spin it it is gouging the people who cant do it themselves. yes making a profit is one thing but most of the prices i have seen go above and beyond the profit - vs- work required and besides as i stated these are my opinions and as a business owner of over 15yrs. my own perceptions of profits doesnt mean taking advantage of those who cant but allowing them the services at the prices they can afford. like many of you i like the finer products that in the end hold up to punishment but these come with a steep price. i'm more willing to part with my money to those that are small,part-time makers doing it from home.

again everyone has their own beliefs,and to such is the way of the free world.=lol
