Most of my family lives in the midwest. Most of them are normal types from the midwest - you know, religious fanatics, wife beaters, etc.

My holiday blues ended after I realized that traveling back to the midwest to see my religious basketcase brother and 'poor me' sister was the problem. When I realized what the problem was, I stopped going back to visit.

Don't see my family = don't get depressed. So, when they finally decide to come east to visit (not likely), then I'll have to decide if I let them stay over the holidays.

Meanwhile - problem solved. I am happy throughout the holidays, and a Christmas card keeps the weird relatives at bay.
