Are men really more shallow and superficial than women? I don't believe that for a minute.....

A 25-year old New York woman who claims to be "spectacularly beautiful" made a listing on Craiglist asking where she can get a man in NYC that makes more than $500,000 a year. She said she has dated guys that make 200-250,000 a year but that they "won't get me to Central Park West."

She wrote that $1 million a year is "middle class."
"I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all," wrote the woman

Gotta love one guy's response to her ad...

A mystery banker, who said he fitted the bill, offered the woman an analysis of her predicament — but described it as "plain and simple a crappy business deal."
"Your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity ... in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't be getting any more beautiful!" the banker wrote.
"So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset," he said. "Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!"
"It doesn't make good business sense to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease," he said.

In the future, you will just download a virtual quickie from your choice of  different partners for a modest price, no packaging, no artwork, and most of the money will go directly to the performer...

Status: offline 		if she's worth 500k at 25, and we assume she will live another 60 years and we use straight line depreciation of 8333-00 per year, then the ordinary man on the street wont be able to afford her until she's around 80.

this shows the error of relying on straight line depreciation in many business models. and also the error of female supremacy as a socio-political model, since this woman is obviously daft in the head.

Status: offline 		OOOOO I like that banker!  I saw the thread go by, and I came over to blast who ever started it, but have been laughing to hard to get my thoughts straight.  Luckily most women I know aren't that vain. I'd have to strangle them

Its no wonder your business struggles somewhat E.  There is no way that is a straight liner, it is a accelerated model...certainly there is a use for a woman who can gum the bitch but-----

Perhaps livestock or equipment models, because the RV (remaining value) is not constant against the list, it is logarithmic or geometric.

Ass wears out fast.

Word on the street is the ad may or may not have been a spoof, but was at least genuinely posted on Craiglist. The reply, however, was only ever seen appended to viral emails, and the ad was later pulled.

But surely his money could help her 'assets' depreciate a lot more slowly if he invested in a modernisation plan for her side of the business...?

But yeah, I agree, anyone answering that ad other than for pure flame purposes is an idiot, or maybe a sub into financial cuckholding and should be with me!  (kidding of course).

I agree - straight line depreciation should be used - but not at such a ridiculously low rate!! The Ass - sorry asset - should be depreciated over its life - so i would suggest a much higher SL rate of 10p.c. if we are to assume she is done at 35!
If however, improvements are made over the life of the ass (sorry asset) then i would suggest a reducing balance rate - but would still suggest 10 p.c.!

.. and all those upgrades will increase the life cycle cost.... so maybe we trade perfomance vs LCC.  or he can simply trade the 40 in for 2 20s.

Status: offline 		I will go with the banker as I loved his explanation of depreciation and the 25-year-old girl who advertised herself as being  "spectacularly beautiful" thought she was "all that"...hmmm...would love to see Paris Hilton at 35 years old and wonder if she is "that hot!"
