my mom always burns the meat balls when she makes spagettie and meat balls.

She also leaves dish drainer towls to molder and then when you put a glass upside down on the towl to dry the glass reeks of mold.

my biggest complaint about my parents is that they're dead......other than that, the alive family is pretty cool most of the time....

My brother always rings really late at night when he is coming home from his job as a retail manager - i know it is stressful, but thats all he talks about for an hour then at the end a quick 'so how are you, got to go now'!! Arghhhhh!!!! Apart from that he's great!

pahunkboy - why not ring them before you leave and ask 'in 12 hours time will you be doing anything' - especially ring if you are leaving at like 3am to get there for the afternoon. Do it every time!! You would think they would be delighted to see you after a 12 hour drive!!!

*drags out familial soap box*
My mother thought that, at 29, I should have a CURFEW if I lived with her! Because "Vegas is a dangerous place"
And now that I live on my own, she calls about every other day to make sure I am alive, and in one piece.

**tucks away soap box**
Ahh, i feel better now.

without city chaos, my family is great.

so-perhaps the city chaos isnt for me.  i want to go further out!

Any time I have to talk to my family it involves their own self-imposed misery and drama and me attempting to pick up the pieces and deal with the consequences.

Krissi....where's my pumpkin pancakes?

the very thought drives me. raises my blood pressure.

laurell3 -> RE: complain about your family here (10/11/2007 3:28:40 PM)

well I can nag at her or tell her she's making a bad decision and I'll be here for her when it fails.  I've tried both, the difficulty is in not worrying about it all the time, which I do.   [&:]

SOME parents aren't delighted to see us after a 12 hour drive. SOME are not even that delighted to see us when we return from having lived abroad for 7 years. Maybe that should help me in leaving again though it does not. I have reasons for leaving again, mainly not them, but they're certainly included. My mother is what you'd call, and what I guiltily call, a domineering bitch. I was horribly mentally abused by her from age 10 which she can even figure out how to accomplish via email. Yup, 14 years of therapy and a wonderful Moroccan husband have taught me a great deal. Was married back in Morocco where I used to live in June '07 and everyone knew I'd be leaving the US again. I tried bringing him here and US said no plus I don't want to stay and he only wanted to stay a year. So, I am off again. My brother killed himself 2 years ago at age 51, he never could get over her or his hatred for her. I can remember even when small dad would not and still will not even dress without asking her what to wear.

I remember being told a particular something as an adult (in my late late 20s), depressed and in an abusive relationship which she knew about. I went once a week to the house for dinner and was told on more than one occasion, ''if you can't come here with a smile on when I open the door, don't come.''  This when she was aware that the meal at their house was the only real meal I received all week.

I am readying to leave again in January to be with my husband. The seperation has been the worst most significant pain we have ever known and the guilt trip and arguing is thick and heavy. I prefer to think of it as homemade chocolate sour cream frosting that I can lick off! I'd rather have burned meatballs than a bowl of  fried sense of self which took a long time to find and make myself.

Be Well!

EG
