On another thread, I mentioned chocolate-coated Rocky Mountain Oysters.  Though I have never seen these, I would imagine that I would be willing to try deep-fried Rocky Mtn. Oysters (mmmmmmmm) coated in chocolate at least once.

However, there has to be some that would be repulsed by this idea...you around, mist?...just as they are by the idea of other chocolate-coated foods.  One that repels me was on the Food Network recently...it was presented as a dessert...a fire-roasted, chocolate-covered jalapeno pepper.

So...how about it?  What can you offer up as a love in terms of things chocolate-covered?  What can you offer up as a hate in terms of things chocolate-covered?

I had the RM Oysters one fateful New Years Eve in Flagstaff Az....dipped them in several different sweet-sour and hot sauces.....didn't phase me when i was told after the fact. I've eaten and enjoyed rattlesnake and javelina too. Must say I wouldn't be too keen on small crawly things with legs and pincers tho.

I loved chocolate covered pretzels when you could get them here in the UK. The mixture of the salty taste with the chocolate was wonderful.

Much as I adore chocolate it would never make up for the idea of eating grubs or bugs covered in it. People who do that are seriously odd.

I've had a chocolate covered jalapeno. A mexican restaurant here does something very similar to garnish a cinnamon/jalapeno ice cream that is part of a dessert they serve. It's quite tasty. The fire roasting of the pepper brings a smoky mellowness to it that goes well with the bitter chocolate. It's a very intriguing flavor combination. I've had chocolate covered grasshoppers and crickets as well. They were yummy and strangely crunchy.

I did draw the line at the chocolate covered grub worm that a friend brought back from the Sudan. Another friend who did try it likened it to a chocolate covered marshmellow in regard to mouth feel and texture. The taste was not something they could easily describe however.

I have tried that fire roasted jalepeno with chocolate.  It's not bad.
But EWWWWWWWWWWW I just need to run over and hurl my lunch on the idea of the grub worm..

you are referring to chocolate covered bulls balls, correct?  That is what a rocky mountain oyster is around here.
Most people just eat them deep fried.  They would never add chocolate to the mix.

I like chocolate covered brownies...as well as some nuts.  Boring but at least it wasn't attached to an animal.

What?  Did they ban chocolate covered pretzels in the UK?  Want me to send you some?  Around holidays you can buy a gigantic tin of them here for very little.

I make chocolate dipped pretzels every year at christmas. They're quite easy to make. I was going to send you some but now that I see the last line of your post I'll have to rescind the offer.

Note, I didn't eat the grub, just the grasshoppers and crickets. Crunchy!

Ewwww just ewwwww

To you and laurell, I have no idea why they stopped the pretzels here. Mind you we do not really get just plain old pretzels anyway.  Time for me to make another trip to the US I think. Worth it for some snickerdoodles.

mmmmmm i dunno, i like homemade chocolate covered strawberries, especially white chocolate dipped with dark or milk chocolate drizzled on top, but then i also like homemade cordial cherries, chocolate dipped cherries ( yes theres a difference) and chocolate covered pretzals.  but i think the worst chocolat ecovered thing is chocolate covered potato chips ( you can buy them at a store down here in branson) they also have chocolate covered orange peel, im still undecided on that on ethough

susie,

They actually were quite tasty. They simply tasted like chocolate. It was the crunchy part that was disconcerting.

Check your mail, I sent you a snickerdoodle recipe that's been a family favorite for 40+ years.

Got it thanks. I am now putting together a shopping list so I can spend tomorrow afternoon making some. Only problem with that is that I have no reason to come back to visit the US now  (it was one of my main nagging points to Master, I would not be happy until I got some snickerdoodles).

bulls balls aint bad, hey Spainish hertiage, we eat alot of the bull you might not think about.

Me, I prefer the tail.

as for the chocholate shit..neh, I think sweet goes with sweet, savory goes with savory and no intermarrige between the two should ever occur, I mean I hate BBQ sauce with a passion because of this, I hate sweet shit on my meat.
