the only thought so far, what i had told my prof i was going to do..was compare how the news media protrayed the waco incident and how the actually memembers protrayed it.. but bah.. what three things could i use there, really? The guns, the claims of child abuse, and the cause of the fire? nah..
i duno..

sounds too depressing.

write something funny and clever that he will enjoy reading to his family and friends as coffeetable reading material.

Compare the film Miami vice and the original series.

Pointing out that the film was so crap the trailer basically included the best five minutes of the whole film.

hmm i guess i could do vampires, blade from blade, and dracula from bram stokers dracula, compare ... stregnth, special abilities.. blade can go in the daylight but dracula can shape shift.. and motivation , blades being to rid the world of vampires and draculas being to find his lost love...

One that would be close to home would be to look at three ways that high and college are similar, then three ways that they are different.

Another would be to take two presidential candidates and compare how they stand on three different issues. Or you could take the two major parties.

Since it's an English paper, you might want to draw from literature. Some quick thoughts:

Compare/contrast Chaucer's treatment of women or clergy or whatever takes your fancy with Shakespeare's.

Compare/contrast the Kate-Petruchio dynamic in The Taming of the Shrew with that of George and Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Compare/contrast Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story.

Compare/contrast Jane Austen's treatment of spinsters and Barbara Pym's.

Compare/contrast Beowulf and Godzilla.

Compare/contrast the Laurence Olivier and Kenneth Branagh films of Henry V.

Compare/contrast the treatment of slavery in Uncle Tom's Cabin and Gone with the Wind.

Compare/contrast the cars in The Great Gatsby with those in The Grapes of Wrath.

If I think of any others, I'll post them later.

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what instructions your prof gave and how cool s/he is with offbeat topics. I liked you Waco idea, actually. How did the prof react to that?
