ricar00 -> deep submission and spirituality (10/15/2007 12:25:29 PM)

My D/s and masochism i believe is ultimately based, defines, and motivates and propels my spirituality. In play especially, but also on a daily basis as a submissive, one of my ultimate goals is somehow to have an mystical union with the Goddess, god, the eternal.  It is hard to define but i know this is what it is about for me ultimately (not to say i don't love and need the submission, the emotional, sexual and other aspects of BDSM  In fact, i know all these things are part of it.
Here is the question.  How do i learn from others in terms of spirituality and mysticism and BDSM?  Are there books out there that talk the power exchange dynamic and spirituality?  Any recommendations would be very welcomed by me as i go deeper on this journey.
Thanks,
richie

I  never found any book on that. My best recommandation is find the right person(s) who can do it with you and experience it real time.

check out your local bdsm community, and bring the subject up to people.  read what ever books on spirituality you can get your hands on.

It\'s Not About the Whip: Love, Sex, and Spirituality in the BDSM Scene by Sensuous Sadie

Sex-Kitten.Net Presents The BDSM Issue by Gracie Passette

Philosophy In the Dungeon, The Magic of Sex & Spirit by Jack Rinella and Dossie Easton

The Puppy Papers: A Woman's Life and Journey into BDSM by Puppy Sharon and Steven Toushin
that what I got when I typed BDSM Spirituality at Amazon.com

Browser it, see what you come up with.

also Sensuous Sadie has a website and regular column, google her name. she has a section on Spirituality. there is also a BDSM Unitarian Universalist yahoo group, called OUUCH. you should check that out as well.

I haven't had time to add all the old articles yet to the new site but you can check out www.femsupreme.com and we often discuss this in the forum there. In fact we have  forum just for this. I incorperate some tantra and have adapted a yoni massage as part of adoration.

Thats one article that talks about this.

I love ritual scenes and find them to be spiritually bonding.

Three varied recomendations from my bookshelves:

"Leather Folk: radical sex, people, politics, and practice" edited by Mark Thompson originally published in 1991, I have the 10th anniversary edition.  Marvelous thought provoking writing.  The last section is essays and articles under the heading "Spirit and the Flesh".

"Sexuality,  Magic & Perversion", Francis King. originally published in 1971, republished by Feral House 2002.  Very British, very academic and covers a wide array of material and religions.

"Radical Ecstasy" by Dossie Easton and Janet W. Hardy (famous for their book "The Ethical Slut").  Accessible, personal and inspiring.  I adore this book and these authors.

You might be interested in this book edited by Sensuous Sadie called "Spiritual Transformation through BDSM" ISBN 978-0-9790067-7-7.

I've read it but not written a review of it yet.

It's basically a series of interviews with people who also see BDSM as spiritual along with a reprint of something they've written on it.

I'm in this book. I have a section and actually its a spiritual piece that includes a ritual. I had forgotten it. It was many moons ago.

Deboyce -> RE: deep submission and spirituality (10/17/2007 12:06:21 PM)

I have an extensive library on this topic including a host of late 18 century unpublished manuscripts and can and do endorse “Spiritual transformation” as a source for objective reading.

Jack Rinella had a book out near the beginning of the year about BDSM and spirituality.

Master Skip Chasey gave a seminar that touched upon this subject. You might also see if you can find anything by him.

Cheers,

Sea

I love Jack Rinella dearly and I have loved all of his other books. As a reviewer and as a historian I have to say that if you skip chapter 3, the "history" chapter I'm all for folks reading this book. I looked at that drafts of the book and all of my suggestions for further reading, especially primary sources was ignored so I'm a bit pissed about that chapter.

Read the others and see one man's deep journey along this path; what Jack Rinella does best.
