That would depend on the code and branch, some codes you can get a waiver to enlist other disqualifications are non-waiverable. Any recruiter should have access to information about which are waiverable. As far as I know there is no way to appeal or change the code you were given but there is a process in place for correction which can lead to a change in the code as well.  Correction of military records

USN-USCG (Ret.)
Yup, see a recruiter. They're good at getting people back in.

I think you would have a bigger response if you went to military.com or other military forums.

Honestly I would just go to a recruiter. If you are prior military, than we both know, they can make miracles happen when it comes to signing someone up, lol. My friend just did something similar, she had a bar on reenlisting, and a recruiter was able to get her in anyways. In most cases all it takes is a wiaver.

Good luck!

Or perhaps just anxious to go back and continue to defend freedom so that others can enjoy such things as freedom of speech, no matter how foolish their speech may be.

In the Navy it would be the BCNR, I expect the other branches have a similar board.

pahunkboy -> RE: is anybody on here ex-military (10/16/2007 7:30:23 AM)

Im curious as to "why" you want to go back in  ?

GhitaAmati -> RE: is anybody on here ex-military (10/16/2007 7:39:02 AM)

Likes been said before..its probably gonna depend on the circumstances of your discharge....and your age...you'll have to go back through a physical if you arent still in the IR...talk to a recruiter, or just call St Louis if its Army...and remember, you dont have to go back in the same branch either....

sub4hire -> RE: is anybody on here ex-military (10/16/2007 7:57:07 AM)

As everyone else stated, go see a recruiter.  They are pretty much taking the bottom of the barrel now.  Recruiters are liars....they can do most anything they want to get you back in.

That's true about going into a different branch.
I was in the Navy, got out for three years and then joined the Coast Guard.
I didn't have to go to boot camp either, just stopped off in Cape May, N.J. and got issued my uniforms and met my ship in Baltimore, Md.
I probably should have gone back into the Navy as the Coast Guard was a lot rougher.
Nothing like being on a 95 foot patrol boat in the Gulf of Maine in February and taking 55 degree rolls in 30 foot seas!
A big Navy Cruiser would have been like a hotel.

GhitaAmati -> RE: is anybody on here ex-military (10/16/2007 8:17:22 AM)

yup....majority of the time you can skip boot camp the second time around...and generally you get to keep your rank from the previous enlistment....My Sir got out after 13 years in the Marines because his MOS was being wiped out..and at the time they didnt need extra people so they were paying them to get out...so he took the money, took two weeks off, walked over to the Army and signed back up......
