1.  Say the last mispelled word/grammar error you read that bugged the f*ck out of you.

2.  Fix it!

Ever since transitioning online, I don't think I've ever seen such blatant disregard and abuse of the "your" "you're" distinction.
PEOPLE: "your" = possesion. "you're" = you + are (contraction).

GAHAAHAHAHAH!

Love,
GM

Oh, yes! Every other comment on YouTube seems to fall foul of that your/you're howler. A similar one, almost as common:

1. Coffee at it's best.

2. The word they were looking for here is its.

its = belonging to it (possessive)
it's = it is (contraction)

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter, I suppose. But it drives little ol' anal me mental.

You got it right there.

It's "misspelled," not "mispelled."

Or even "misspelt", where I come from. But we're strange buggers on this side of the Pond.

Sure, "misspelt" is fine, but whatever you do, you have to have two s's.

I love it when people pick on other people's grammar and spelling errors, and can't even complete the first fucking sentence without making an error of their own.  Ah, the irony.  Makes my day.

rEdiculousis supposed to berIdiculous. That one makes me grind my teeth lol, but not as much as those that use no punctuation nor paragraph breaks. I've finally begun to block some folks here and it is because I refuse to try and decode something only to wind up with something totally stupid in the end. I don't think I am a grammar snob but maybe I am since there are a few I just can't bear to read anymore.  Pssst on something 'misspelt' I tend to do it the long way when I am in doubt and say wrongly spelt lol.

It drives me crazy when people confuse lose and loose.  I haven't noticed anyone do it today, but here's an example.

Incorrect: You might loose your hand if you put it in an alligator's mouth.
Correct: You might lose your hand if you put it in an alligator's mouth.

Though--gory thought--I suppose your hand would be loosened from your body if you lost it to an alligator.

my latest pet peeve is the use of the word "dominate" when one actually is referring to a "dominant"!!!  dominate is a verb, dominant is the noun, therefore that person...

This one bothers me far too much:

"So-and-so is away getting their lunch."  Just how many people are "So-and-so"?  He's just one person!

The feminists will likely want to kill me on this one, but when you don't know the sex of the person you're talking about you're supposed to use male pronouns.  "So-and-so is away getting his lunch."

If you absolutely must, I suppose "So-and-so is away getting his/her lunch." is ok.  It still bothers me, but less so. lol

Dominant is an adjective, not a noun.  But no one seems to say "dominator."

Most recent one?   "you seam like the perfect goddess"

Correction: "You seem like a perfect Goddess."

Or; in an ideal world, potential subs would actually answer my ad as requested!

OK, its not from here, but this really got me going tonight - a slip of paper brought home from school, advertising the Harvest Service's.

I mean, this, from a school!?

"I could care less", when they mean the opposite.

And "dominate" instead of "dominant", and "loose", instead of "lose", I second those.

i think i stand corrected, but i also think that popular usage has turned it into a noun, since our language is constantly evolving...if not in the dictionary as a secondary meaning of the word yet, it will be there soon....

I am adding the NEWS CYCLE!

It isn't news. It is a pronoucement mechanism.  It is soundbites with practically no content to it- shouted at us, and worded in a few different ways. The epitime of it- being the fake presidental debates. A debate is never pre-rehearsed; and the moderators dont ask the meat of the questions!  Rendering such- an uppity monalogue. Not a debate!
