When I was a kid my dad read to me from a book about "ghost"stories" but somewhere along the line it disapered and we can't find it anywhere in publication.

I member that it was the haunted house or something an it was a red cover with a spooky looken house on it. an it had little stores like it isn't the cough that carries you off. It's the coffen they carry you offin, and there was a story about the ghost of cartoom. and the day that the murcury went down and stuff.

I have a book called "Ghost Stories". It's a collection of stories written mostly by English/British Writters. Could this possibly be the same book?

I know the book because I owned it as a kid, however I have long since forgotten the title. I may actually still have it somewhere. I will look around for you and I will see.

My offhand suggestion is just to try amazon, see what you can pick up. I wouldn't rely too much on the cover as there might be other printings with covers that look completely different. Or you could start calling up secondhand bookstores in your area.

I am lucky enough to be going to a bookreading and signing by her this coming weekend.

Rock on, sub4hire! I love theshadowlands! I'm an avid ghosthunter and have been for years. But ACK! I know exactly what book you're talking about and I can't remember it's name. I'm going to do some research for you at the public library (I know they have it), and I'll post the answer back in a couple of days. This is going to bug the piss out of me until I find out.

Ever seen one? The last one I saw was our cat we had to put down. Old age..enlarged anus...well not anus but the proper word is escaping me at the moment. Almost tripped several times because I saw him run by me for about the first month after he was gone.

I never claim to be normal. When I was in high school my favorite hangout was the cemetary at night. I always figured the dead needed fun to.

Cemetaries are nice places to go when you wanna be left to yourself.

I disagree, you're never alone when in a cemetary. Aside from that I took breathing individuals with me as well. Just loved to take new guys with to creep them out.
Usually I was in a pack of about 8-12 people.

Cemataries aren't spooky or creepy to me. I like the old ones like from 00's or something I like to walk around and pull weeds an stuff.

One of my favorite online ghost story sites is castleofspirits.com. Not all the stories are true, but you can't always tell which ones. They also have a lot of photos and accounts from both known and obscure places of hauntings around the world.

This sounds like it might be what you are talking about:

The Haunted House and Other Spooky Poems and Tales ed. Vic Crume & Gladys Schwarcz.

The table of contents lists, among others, "A Skeleton Once in Khartoum", "It Isn't the Cough", "The Wreck of the Hesperus" and "The Red Room."

Several used copies are listed at amazon.
