Well Termyn8tor you obviously enjoy a drink or two or three.

That explains some of your posts because I have often thought you were PUIing.

Ha. this is no 'prisoner's dilemma' but it sure is a dilemma.

If you come forward now, both of you will still be in deep sh*t.  Your friend will still get the time.  He already posed as the fallguy, absorbed paperwork, time and energy from the state.  He is stuck with his choice.  Whether you come forward or not is not going to change that.

You can still come forward, do your time, pay his bills and pay for removal or pardon for him at a later date.  That is the 'ethical' thing to do.  Does it serve a purpose to do so? sure, only to your friendship and your own concience.  A purpose to society? nope. Society doesn't care nor will the general public (except here lol) find out how 'good a friend either of you are to eachother'.

3 days ain't bad.  His criminal record after this is bad.  Pay for attourneys, and fees and hope this doesn't effect his driving record also. Compensate his family and (as above) pay to remove these records at a later date.

Your debt to society?  Be a better friend.

Is it ethical? no, but you probably knew you were going to hell in a handbasket long ago.

There seems to be a general consensus between my friend and a few otrhers. It is that unless I take a GTA for stealing my own car, he still is going to get the days.

He told me straight out not to do it. He said he can do three days standing on his head. I guess it is pretty much settled. If they rake him over the coals really bad I might just give him the car.

This for two reasons. What happens in court determines if I am going to do this again. The next candidate is already selected. But I simply won't do it if they ream him really badly.

No matter what happens, I got to remember this guy's birthday, after all it is on my car registration.
