http://domsubfriends.com/cgi-local/wwwdir/db.cgi?db=org&uid=default&state=TENNESSEE&view_records=View+Records&ww=on

I looked up Tennessee BDSM, found that, I hope it works.   Back when I wanted to check out the local scene, I had hell of a time finding anything. (other then porn and dead links.) til a guy that I had an interesting conversation with (phone sex **snickers**) told me to look up Michigan munches and of cities around me.  And I am sure plenty of people have had similiar experiences.

It is so hard to show anything reasonable in yahoo groups.  For one you cannot say bdsm.  You cannot say dominantion and submission anymore.  Most of the groups I know have names that cannot be identified as ds.  It sucks.  My own group is chicobd_smunch.  LOL we had to split it up so yahoo couldnt boot us off.  And they do for a variety of reasons, lord knows you have to force people to put their ages in all the time.
I wish there was a reasonable way to search but because they view us as perversion you have to be very tricky with your titles.  You might want to ask one of your local groups (and I see there are a few) if any yahoo group is available.

As a list owner I get a LOT of applicants letting me know what they want when they apply to join.  But, if you own a yahoo group in the adult catagory it is not enough to have an applicant drop me an email about their stats.
They NEED to put it in their yahoo profile.
I send this out to all of my applicants:
Hello this is a reminder. You must satisfy the list requirements before I can approve your membership. This is the page I get when I look at the yahoo members page:http://profiles.yahoo.com/yourusername(Insert your yahoo user name into the green line above) Curently there is no info posted.  To join the list you must have your age and general location in your profile.  Also it is better to add the yahoo profile into the adult catagory.
Please visit this page to change your information:

http://manage.members.yahoo.com/index_ep.html?id=yourusername(Insert your yahoo user name into the green line above)
It will make you sign into yahoo first then feel free to add in only the name you wish to be called, with no last name.  Add in your age, your location, put a check mark in the adult catagory and then hit save.
I hope this helps.
I will approve your request as soon as I see the requirements have been met
.
I cannot tell you how many people I have refused because they don't follow that simple request.  Those of us who run lists can attest to Yahoo's peculiarities regarding profiles.  If you want to keep your list running you comply.Kyst

I didn't even remember ever having filled out a profile on yahoo. I have an old email account there but I don't use it, just the yahoo id sometimes.
When looking it said 'age of file' but I added my actual age once I found the spot. Argh it took forever to remember my password too lol.

Google and other similar corporations have really caved into the anti-hedonic forces. They've removed all reference to adult groups in their search engines. To locate a group you in essence have to already know of the group.

Even worse, they've deliberately munged their FAQs. Now, when you ask "Help" a question about locating adult groups, you get a ostensible Google user who answers that "you can find adult groups on the web by using search engines like Yahoo or Google" as if that was the question.

And even worse than that, the companies treat this nonsense -- "letting users answer user questions" -- as some super special service they're offering.

I have to admit it felt pretty discouraging, here is the email. Ack I hope its Kay to post??

"Your request to join the FlintAltBDSM group was not approved.
The moderator of each Yahoo! group chooses whether to restrict
membership in the group. Moderators who choose to restrict
membership also choose whom to admit.

Please note that this decision is final and that Yahoo! Groups
does not control group membership.

I was told I was not sufficiently proficient in the protocols and rituals. So, I asked if that meant I couldn't spank someone. I didn't hear back.

Um. Fellow Michiganians.  Let me say that there are some groups that you don't want to be a member of!  Let me know if you want the names of the more useful ones. :)

MrrPete -> RE: Am I that clueless? (10/18/2007 8:44:40 PM)

Yahoo in their great wisdom decided to remove all adult groups from their search engine several years ago.

Just Google on BDSM [city] and/or [state] and you'll get plenty of hits
