charlotte12 -> RE: The arguments that will not die (10/19/2007 5:52:45 PM)

I keep coming back because i like to see new opinions on the same subjects over and over. I am still learning so much about myself and it really helps to have somewhere to discuss the things i am discovering or to see someoen else go through the same struggles or discoveries i am. There have been more than one moment of discovery for me while reading the boards, sometimes because someone expressed something so beautifully that i have never been able to and sometimes because someone said something i so strongly disagree with that in trying to form a response i was able to figure out my own view much more clearly.

Oh and did i ever mention that sarcasm and biting humor gets me excited? collarme sometimes makes me truly Laugh Out Loud.

charlotte (who misses the days when she could spend hours on collarme)

Ah, yes, internet forums are not for the faint of heart.  I’m glad you both are still here.

HollyBlue—you have mail…..

Toservez,   Some people say we are not a community, but like you, I find the forum gives me a place to be myself.  Even when I am not ‘like minded’ regarding certain topics, I am glad we are here!

The things that keep me coming back are two fold. First I never tire of learning, and most of everyone here has more experience than I do. That means that I can always learn something, even if I don't agree with it.

The other side of the site brings me back. The small glimmer of hope that there might one day be someone worth bringing into our lives here. Maybe they will show up on the boards, God knows there are certain people here who hold my respect, and if they were local I might at least be good friends with them, and see if more happens. While waiting around for the right person to pop their head in, we weed through the others and find people to try and make friends with (not happened so far really).

Those are why I keep coming back.

What is it about this place that keeps you coming back?

The precious gems that are buried in the sand.

Day before yesterday, Aswad used a term with which I was unfamiliar and it intrigued me so I researched it. In doing that research I ran across something else that literally turned my brain inside out and answered pretty much every single 'why' question I had ever asked myself. That's why I'm here, the gems. I'm attracted to shiny stuff (which is why bald Masters just do it for me in a big way).

Nice post, as usual, catize.

MadRabbit -> RE: The arguments that will not die (10/19/2007 7:18:04 PM)

Recently, I had the oppurtunity to go to a workshop up. It had been since last December since I had an oppurtunity to travel and be a part of the public scene.

As I sat there and listened to the conversations between people around me all day. I had this kind of weird feeling like I was on another planet. The content of the discussions and the way people talked about things and narrated their own private lives was so drastically different then the stuff that gets shoveled around on these boards.

I also began to realize just how completely pointless and irrelevant half of these debates are to the happiness and fulfillment of two individuals in their own private relationships.

I think my time here is drawing to a close. But until that point I plan on having some fun being an abrasive asshole.

I am extremely sorry to read that from you MadRabbit.  "Beware the Jabberwock, my son.  The claws that bite, the jaws that catch.  Beware the Ju-Ju bird, and shun the frumious Bandersnatch."  Lewis Carroll

I come here because it is a great place to be.
I enjoy the online scuffles, arguments and debates.
I love to hear about the one true way, the right way, and the only way.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: The arguments that will not die (10/20/2007 7:41:49 AM)

In part BECAUSE of the repetition.  There's a tendency for old folks to get stuck in their ways, to just get it set in concrete and call it a day.

No way not me- by being here I am CONSTANTLY challenged to rethink the very basics, to always be open to foundational shifts in perspective.  Now, it really doesn't happen very often, but that possibility in itself is more than enough intrigue and bait to keep me on the line.

Plus I love discussions about relationship dynamics and offering advice.

I use to follow the one true way, the right way... THE only way....

But then I found out I was lied to... and it wasn't the true way.... So... I stopped listening to anything I have to say!
