MzMia -> Why not give free health screenings near Border states? (10/20/2007 8:34:58 AM)

I have faced the fact that anyone in the world, that wants to get into America,
can come from one of the border states down there near Mexico.
That said, I would be willing to spend some of my hard earned tax money to at
least give FREE screenings to all the people that are coming here illegally.

Why not have clinics located in locations near the border on the American side?
Since, they will be covered and protected once they usually cross the line, at least we could
screen as many as we could for infectious diseases, before they spread out and disappear.

That man that crossed 76 times with TB is just the tip of the iceberg, if we caught him, there must be about 1,000,000 we are not catching.

Does anyone else worry or care about all the new strains of communicable diseases and infections coming into this country?
Any thoughts on this one?

i worry and care about it but anyone from anywhere can board a plane and come here - they don't need health clearances.

Even if you did open up these clinics it takes at least 24 hours before you can read a ppd test.  Now you have to house all these people for 24 hours.  It's just not plausable.  Make the borders impenetrable would be easier.  Still wouldn't stop infected people entering other ways though. There is a drug resistent strain of staph going around in one of the colleges in my area.  Scary stuff.
