MzMia -> 10 days until Halloween! Care to share any cable t.v. horror stories? (10/20/2007 9:44:04 AM)

My high speed internet service that I get from my local cable company,
has been down for about 3 weeks.
In the spirit of Halloween....I decided to start a fun thread on cable t.v. horror stories.

I first called my cable provider last Friday night the 12th, I knew it would take about an hour to actually talk to someone and make an appointment, so I was drinking a beer. [;)]
When I finally GOT someone on the phone, he told me it would take almost 3 weeks to get an evening appointment 5-8p.m OR a weekend appointment,
and they could get someone out on Halloween.
I was hardly going to take a day off from work for a cable t.v. tech, that might not even show
up! [sm=hair.gif]

I laughed and joked with the customer service rep. and said, I would certainly have a treat for the cable t.v. technician if I had to wait until Halloween night to get a service call. [sm=lol.gif]

I have been able to connect on dial-up, so I was not too stressed.
I called again last Thursday the 18th to get something sooner, and I was able to schedule a service call for today from 8am-11am {Saturday}.
I slept with the phone by my bed, and I requested someone call me before coming, because I figured no-one would come early.
A cable t.v. customer service rep called me at 8:02 a.m. just to see if I still wanted the tech to come.
I said of course, and went back to sleep.
I have been up for a few hours now, I have called the cable t.v. company twice to see if they are still coming, each time it took 30 minutes to get a live person on the phone.
They said sure!!! Someone will be coming![:D]
I asked about a service credit for them being hours late, they said to remind the tech to check that they did not make the on time guarantee, and I can get $20 for a day of waiting!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWWWWW
When I get the $20 I can buy some beer and popcorn. [:D]

That is IF I get the $20! [&o]

It is now approaching 1:00p.m.----what time do you think they will finally get here?
I will write about my last 2 cable repair experiences, later in this thread.

Especially the one in which I was yelling and screaming, and threatening a cable repair contractor.
I also have to share the utter nightmare that a co-worker is experiencing, she has been cable t.v. customer service and repair HELL for almost 3 months.

No wonder this happened, I predict many more cases like this one! [sm=sodoff.gif]

Well, time to go look out front for the cable guy, I will be back!

That old lady was right to be pissed at Comcast. IIRC, they're fraudulently forging packets from customers and other people to close bittorrent sessions.

WoW updates use bittorrent.

Comcast is pretty bad.
It is almost 2:00p.m., time to call again and wait on hold for 30 minutes.
Maybe someone will show up before it gets dark!

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: 10 days until Halloween! Care to share any cable t.v. horror stories? (10/20/2007 11:22:04 AM)

you're only getting a $20 credit IF they show up hours late?  what about credit for the time you're without service?  i have Comcast too and if i was without service i demand a credit for each day my service was out.

then again that's me

I agree that they should pro rate and credit you for the time you've been without. The logic I used with my cable co was that they would expect me to pay the bill when they provided service, then logically they should pro rate and deduct the days they didn't provide my service. Eventually they did just that and threw in a couple months of Showtime. Bastards, now I'm hooked on Dexter.

Hello there,

The $20 is just for them being late!  I will also get credit for the 2 weeks with no internet service!
yeeee hawwww

Ms Jo!

I just called and got all the credit the rep could give me!

The cable guy finally came around 2:45 p.m.

As soon as he had been here 5 minutes he asked to use my bathroom.
Anyway, he did fix my cable and I have my DSL back.
I will admit it, I am HOOKED on my cable high speed connection and digital t.v. services.

The last time I had service problems it took 3 different service calls,
before they could fix the problem.

I don't think this counts as the type of story you are looking for, but a few years ago on one of the cartoon networks, during the flintstones I think it was, during prime child watching time, the video got switched. So in the other room the parents still heard the flintstones, but the video was a porno.

My cable co.   pro rates a month, and as well, dosnt make up for it if your down, due to them.  They as well, will cut your service say, on the 28th of the month, when your bill isnt due untill the 7th of the next month, and charge you a $80.00 charge to rehook you.  Due to living in a smaller town up north, there isnt alot of comp. for them...so they get away with it.   lol, you think their bad, you should see what the electric co. dose. lol.

Customer service with most cable companies is a nightmare.
You were smart to not take a day off work for a service call.

The last time they came to my house, they were 3 hours late.
Whatever time they give you, always plan on them showing up 3-4 hours later.

This is too open.

I remember a time I wanted my TV to be turned off. I pushed power and the TV stayed on. I pushed power again and again and no such luck. So I unpluged the damn thing but my TV did not turn off. It stayed on for atleast another thrity seconds before the screen went blank and the sound became silent.

That's all I got.

lol, too funny
I can live without cable t.v. a lot easier than the internet.

I can tell you must like living on the edge.
Please don't dress up like the cable guy, it will scare too many people.
It will cause people to have flashbacks, that will not be pretty.
