WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A letter from Democratic senators blasting conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh for using the phrase "phony soldiers" on his program was sold Friday on eBay for a record $2.1 million.

On his show Friday, Limbaugh said proceeds from the sale, and a matching $2.1 million from his own pocket, would go to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides scholarships to children of Marines or federal law enforcement personnel who were killed while serving their country.

Limbaugh is pathetic.Like this is going to make things even.He doesn`t get it.

We don`t need money,we need responsible broadcasters.

I actually think it was a GREAT recovery from Limbaugh's real fuck-up.

Calling all the REPUBLICANS who disagree with Bush's Policy in Iraq "CRAZY", and phony republicans.

So, REPUBLICANS, how does it feel to be thrown out of your party for having beliefs Politically Unacceptable to Rush Limbaugh?

Well, when it was not only acceptable but encouraged to mock veterans who won the purple heart in war, it became obvious to anyone who wasn't a diehard Republican that party support for members of the military only extends to soldiers/airmen/sailors/marines who agree with whatever the policy of the day is. Anyone who disagrees with Limbaugh is *obviously* not a real soldier.

Well, I'd suggest that ANYONE putting ANY effort into the Electoral Process is delusional in the first place.

Pro Wrasslin is less scripted than the results of a Presidential election. The trick is to present a charade giving the APPEARANCE that change is possible, that way there won't be a Revolution.

As long as enough people BELIEVE that the Ballot Box works, they won't get out the Ammo Box.

But it's nice to see the RNC treating its base they way the Conservatives got trashed by the Neocon Party Whores, in any event. And again, respect where due. Rush did great at covering up his dismissal of 70% of the Republican Party as "Crazy".

I am not Limbough fan but attack against him was unfair and based on lie. He reffered in his program to really "phony soldiers" (people who lied having been in combat in Iraq).
As I understand, democrats are trying to silence conservative talk radio as it can significantly affect the outcome of 2008 elections. Dirty politics.

Did you read the ENTIRE TRANSCRIPT? Because it appears you only read the short, out-of-context one.

The "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE" essentially boils down to the LAST LINE of my .sig.

Limbaugh again put his big foot in his mouth.
Maybe he was doped up on his pain medication.
He is in no position to determine who the real soldiers are,
and who is not a real soldier.
If you are willing to fight for your country, you should be also
allowed to state how you feel about being in the war.
Limbaugh was attempting to discredit soldiers that do not agree
with the Iraq War.

Even if "Mike from Chicago",came forward and proved everything,it still would make one bit of difference to you guys.

Rush selling that letter, is as tasteless as Rudy asking for check donations, made out to $9.11.
He just doesn`t get it.

We`ve got the tape(all of it),and heard Mike,who before Rush slammed him,came off as genuine and sincere.Only for the reason that he didn`t "ditto"(agree) with Rush,was he then called fake.

I think the really bizarre thing about the whole situation is that he claims anyone in favor of withdrawal can't be a Republican. Last time I checked, close to half of Republicans were in favor of withdrawal in a 6-12 month time period. Those in favor of staying "as long as it takes" are going to be a clear minority of the party pretty soon.

OPEN QUESTION: Do the rest of the Republicans here also subscribe to the Limbaugh/Luckdog1 hypothesis, that no REAL RNC member or REAL SOLDIER can possibly disagree with Bush on Iraq? And that you'd have to be either LYING ABOUT BEING A RNC MEMBER ( or soldier ) OR CRAZY?

Or is it a putsch against the Majority of the RNC, by a dangerous, ideologically questionable, but vocal and public minority?

Oh, this is such an amazing quote. Think about what you are saying here on any number of levels. What would it mean if he came forward and it was all true? What does it mean that you think Rush can "tell" this about someone? Considering how many former generals including Colin Powell who are stepping forward and criticising this war and the president and that the Democrats have the highest ranking combat vets running for office and that the Republican haven't had a high level combat vet run for President in over 50 years...

According to poll after poll of service men and women, The Rush Limbaugh Show is one of the most popular programs on the network.

Why would you want to deprive them of one of thier favorite and most listen to shows?

Military men and women and their familys have flocked in huge numbers to Limbaughs defense does that tell you anything?

Nobody is being forced to listen to him. radios have tunning dials and off switches do they not?

And speaking to reaping what he is sowing, the whole thing has lead to a ratings boost which translates into bigger advertizing dollars in his pocket, not to mention great PR for him and a groundswell of support from service members, retirees and military families.
