I am with you two as well. I have had 2 back surgeries, 3 nerve blocks and still no relief. I have disk degeneration, scoliosis, I am a diabetic, have high blood pressure, and have some mental things going on. Luckily, my partner is very good. Its very hard to sit or stand for any length of time. I normally have someone very close to me do things to my partner that I can't do.

i am a sub...a sub with physical disabilities who is in a 24/7 D/s relationship.  My Dom adjusts our play to accomodate those things that I can't do physically, like kneeling for long periods or sitting at His feet. My question is -are there other subs who have disabilities and how does your D/s relationship work?
Michaelsangel

Master is aware of this slave's disabilities and physical limitations and makes accomodations for them as well---there are certain activites that are limited and He allows for the use of medications and other therapies for relief.

It doesnt mean I am less of a slave to Him, just new limits have been made to enhance how I serve him and what nots.[:)]

It certainly doesn't mean that you are less of a slave and i think that it doesn't need to mean new limits but, rather new challenges and, with those challenges, new opportunities for learning and growing and becoming even closer to each other.

Best wishes to you,

A friend of mine has burn scars all over his torso, which doesn't really allow his skin there to breathe.  He gets hot very easily, but he's found a nice Domme who always turns a fan or the a/c on for him and makes sure he's okay.

AEslaveM -> RE: Subs with disabilities (10/24/2007 1:28:19 PM)

i, too, have a "disability," according to others.  i wear hearing aides..............When i am not wearing them, i hear very little........  Makes for some funny situations, when Master says one thing and i hear something else...................  :)  My hearing is such that i hear higher pitches better than lower ones, and sometimes i just don't understand what has been said...........

i am a nurse in rl, and i have always lived my life in spite of my disability...........

Master has been very patient with me, and he just repeats it when i don't hear him...... and he never makes me feel less than what he needs and wants......

colouredin -> RE: Subs with disabilities (10/24/2007 1:35:20 PM)

I went through a window a couple of years ago severed my nerves and tendon in my wrist so i cant be tied by my wrist and have to be really careful with the restraints i use or else i can cause more damage even on a short term basis it can lead to loss of feeling and movement in my hand and really horrible electric shocks up my arm. Simple really if i am tied by the wrist its simply aesthetic not tight at all if it is to be tighty they have to tie at my elbows :D not really a disability and no where near as bad as a lot of the afflictions some have mentioned

missjan -> RE: Subs with disabilities (10/24/2007 2:47:44 PM)

sweetsub1986 -> RE: Subs with disabilities (1/29/2008 7:54:12 AM)

I have Cerebral Palsy and am dependant on a powerchair for mobility. I am also almost completely dependant on others care as I cannot care for myself. I am still very able to serve just as well as if I were able-bodied...I just require help to adapt. My Owner says my disability helps make me the strong person I am. He is terrific about helping me in any/all ways I need. I also have arthritis and moderately-severe hearing loss as well as eplipesy . I don't let my conditions stop me. Gizzo also has some degree of mobility impairment due to a wreck.

BlackPhx -> RE: Subs with disabilities (1/29/2008 2:03:18 PM)

A few disabilities, MPD (DID), arthritis in hip joints, cystic breasts, calcium deposits and cysts under rotator cuffs, heart arrythmia, asthma, COPD (requires oxygen at times), neuropathy in hands, feet and gross muscles of the legs from diabetes (causes imbalance and falls), diabetic, had cataracts in both eyes removed (lens replacement), hearing loss in left ear, PVC's and chronic depression. Master works around all of it, as long as I can work the shoulders before we do any bondage my arms can be put behind my back or over head for short periods, before they lock up completely. Blood sugars have to be watched during any pain play, breathing unobstructed and inhalers at hand. He has to help me get up from any kneeling position as with the neuropathy I can't raise myself from a chair without using our Akita as a stabilizer or some object, otherwise I will fall waiting for the muscles to get the message and lock in place. At the rate the muscles in my legs and the feeling in my feet are going, Master is looking at me being in a wheelchair in the future. I am fighting it with physical therapy and tight Blood sugar control, but once the neurapathy has set in as far as it has, it becomes progressive. The neuropathy in my hands is severe enough where I can grab hot things without realizing it, so I have to watch for burns.

I have a number of physical issues that my Dom must accommodate. Because I have frozen shoulder, my right arm can't be restrained in spreadeagle position; he restrains it as far as it goes. Same with the tennis elbow in my left arm. The amputation can be dealt with as well.

Funny enough - I rediscovered my submissive nature after the disabilities came along.

I have epilepsy as well as RA of the cervical spine, agoraphobia with panic disorder and recently due to a lot of stress caused by my teenage son, developed a heart condition. My Dom SrMichael is more than willing to help me adapt and is very careful when we try to push my hard limits.
Respectfully,

Irony abounds, Master says the Doctors must get all mine cause he can't find the submissive bone in my body. He has threatened to charge them for the sadistic joys they inflict on me, between tests and cuttings. If anyone wants to try for some real fun, see your local Neurologist, blasted woman had my leg muscles jumping from needles inserted in the muscles. Felt like a Hyper Active Charley horse!!!! [:-]

DesFIP -> RE: Subs with disabilities (1/30/2008 9:10:38 AM)

With the passing of time, we will all have difficulties.

Vertigo here, so no inverted suspension. And if it's acting up I won't even lay across the bed with my head hanging down.

I suffer from anxiety disorder, he's made changes in play for that. No headphones, they induce panic. If he leaves the room for a minute while I'm tied, he touches me first, reassures me he'll be right back. If I'm tied and blindfolded and he's staring at the toy bag deciding what to get, he stands near enough that I can hear him breathe or he'll touch me. Small accomodations that once you get into the habit of doing, don't require thought.

bliss1 -> RE: Subs with disabilities (1/30/2008 4:10:20 PM)

I have MS and arthritus.
I find that by talking to a Dom about what I can and can't do to be the most helpful.
I also tell him what physical symptoms to watch for.
Play is still fun, you just have to be more careful.
I haven't really found it to be a turn off to those I care for.

Don't ask. I've found out that if I say, "What else can go wrong?" I get the answer.
