ANKARA, Turkey - Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said he would convene crisis talks with top military and government officials at 8 p.m. (1 p.m. ET) on Sunday after Kurdish rebels killed at least 13 soldiers near the Iraqi border.

"We will reach a decision after those talks on what kind of steps to take next," Erdogan said in televised remarks.

The US are stuck between a rock and a hard place with this one. They listed the PKK as a terrorist group, so Turkey, as well as governments world wide will be watching to see if they US allow the PKK to operate from within Iraq or not. The flip side of the coin is the the autonomous Kurds in Iraq have said they will fight any Turkish incursion. Mr Talabani, the current Iraqi leader is also Kurdish, so it will be interesting to see which way he moves.

Its a classic case of the war on terror, in this case the PKK against operation Iraqi freedom, in this case protecting the Kurds.

Something tells me it`s a lose/lose situation.
