My father is a close personal friend of Johnny and Jack. (Walker Red and Daniels) The three of them made very very sure that my mother and I "knew our place". You might say it was forced subordination. My mother lived it til the day she died. I was smart enough to leave at a very young age. It did affect me greatly, but not just with men. I was so worried about upsetting, offending, saying the wrong thing, etc, that if someone had a stronger personality than I did, I would bow to thier wishes. Through the last few years or so, that has changed. I would not say that my attitude changed so much as "the real me" had had enough, and I made the changes that I needed to be happy.
