Which leads to a question, anyone else go through that kind of feeling, and if so what b-day was it that finally did it for you?

I'm thinking it might happen next year when i turn 60. I don't wanna grow up.[;)]

Upon reflection, I think it has to do a bit more with just how things in life are changeing. When I turned 21 the future really didn't have a plan or a route, I was freshly freed of some obligations, I had a girlfriend I was rather involved with, and what red blooded American doesn't look foward to being 21 (well I wasn't extra enthused, but it wasn't bad)? At 22, the future just gained quite a bit more direction/long term comitment (although to be fair it's in a direction I like), I'm single, but I know what to avoid next time, and 21 wasn't really that exciteing anyways.

The conclusion that I came to is every birthday I've had to this point has been kind of a progressive series of steps towards a future, a goal, somthing that never is really quite there. Transitions to high school, then college just shifted what I was aiming for, and it was just like prepareing for somthing that's supposed to be around the corner. With 22, while I've still got years at school (well two), it's like I've reached the point where it's not really etherial goals and the like, but pressing onwards to things I can feel, touch and see.

So I suppose it's a shift from birthdays being hope/orientation towards a distant future, to more steps/milestones on a journey to what I want from life. If that makes any sense at all.

I feel very much like I have not reached my potential and it is too damn late to do anything about it. Very depressing...

Hang in there Kitten! For me, the ''mental'' and ''career'' parts get better as time goes on, but the body is a whole different story - It just doesn't heal as fast as it used to. I play city league basketball. Before I turned 37, I could play the entire game without having another player sub for me, but now I relish the opportunity to sit on the bench for a few minutes!

Geeezzzzze and here I am looking forward to 50. (Women in my immediate family seem to die by age 49). If I make it there (50) I can make it anywhere. New York, NY, Newwwwwwww York. [:D]

I only feel old if I happen to make the mistake of going to a dance club where the primary make up of the party goers are nothing but 20 somethings. Though I've been known to still party and have a good time right along side those kiddies. Those are the only times I wish I could turn back the clock. I wouldn't want to go backwards, I'm looking forward to sitting in a rocking chair, watching the youth make total azzzes of themselves and having a great time doing it. [;)]

i feel old too.. all the fricken time. i'll be 26 in Nov.. Aaaaaaaaaah. i think it hits me hard because i consider my prime at 15/16. Thats when life rocked, the world rocked.. and as i get older i see my 16 year old body degenerating. i get arthritis, stretch marks, i even lost my boobs to my kid.. its not as easy to lose weight.. my face doesnt look so young and innocent anymore = ( <sigh> They say enjoy you're youth while you can. Now i understand it. Too much of a rush back then to grow up, didnt enjoy my youth and now i realise i cant ever get it back and i'm JUST GOING TO GET OLDER........ Terrible terrible terrible. Have to actually TAKE care of my body now.

Actually just the other day i realised that i can rely on youth anymore, i actually have to start putting effort into preserving myself. God forbid.. i dont wannnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa be 26. i WANT to be 16 again and it blows my mind that its been a DECADE since i was 16 and living life to the fullest in Hong Kong.

Hrump.. i'm going to never neverland

I think I've got it figured out, I'll just die before I hit 40 somthing. No offense to 40ish people, but that just seems like a decent time to check out before my face melts at 60-70ish.

I've got to have somthing cool on my tombstone though, maybe like "too awesome to live" or "killed while slaying commies and single handedly restoring America to greatness." Failing that, maybe just somthing weird like "eaten by squid"
