sammiebabygirl -> Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:21:01 PM)

I have been here a couple of months now and have been doing fairly well picking up what things mean.

I know that OP is original post

Today, I have seen the term "Perved" used a few times. I take it to mean, viewed someone's profile, but exactly where did that come from?

Is there a list somewhere in the forums that has all the users' terminology or collarchat-ese?

when you are in a bar and a guy is totally checking you out he is perving you ...here checking out CAN (not always cause most times it is curiousity i think) mean looking at your profile  =) i am not aware of a specific thread with the definitions of all the lingo though it certainly wont take you long to pick them up. They are also relatively univeral all over the internet.

bostontwo -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:29:32 PM)

I would suggest that "perving" would require a step beyond just looking at a profile out of curiosity. I've done that, only to be taken aback and become disinterested upon reading, for whatever reason. I don't think that's quite perving; following through and messaging someone or attempting to chat them up, especially if they're on the other side of the country, or clearly don't have any interests in common just because you like their picture, would be a better definition.

Raechard -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:33:11 PM)

FR = fast reply. I’m not really sure why people feel the need to say they are replying to something in a hurry. It’s almost like qualifying the thing they say may have no relevance whatsoever.[:D]

i prefer to call it "peeping."  i "peeped" his/her profile.

Raechard -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:37:17 PM)

I call it looking i.e. I looked at her profile.[:D]

Now, where's the imagination in that?  ;)

Raechard -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:45:32 PM)

There isn't any I suppose lol, but if I used my warped imagination to make up words for things people wouldn’t understand them.

ChainedExistence -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:55:08 PM)

CM- CollarMe website
UM,  ums- Unmentionables- Your offspring. People want to be careful about mentioning them in connection with an adult topic.
LDR- Long Distance Relationship
D/s  Usually Domination/submission
LTR- Long term relationship
SO- Significant other
M/s-Master/slave
WIITWD- What it is that we do

Those are a few that come to mind that I've seen...

When people type "fast reply" at the beginning, they aren't saying that they are replying in a hurry.  There's two ways to comment on a thread... one by directly responding to a particular poster by using the "quote" or "reply", and one by using the "fast reply" box at the bottom of the thread.  If you use the "fast reply" box, the bottom of your comment will say "in reply to..." whoever the last poster on the thread was.  Folks tend to identify that they are using "fast reply" so that others will know that they aren't responding to any particular poster but just making a general comment to all.

Raechard -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 2:58:06 PM)

Oh, I just assume they aren’t when they don't quote.

TreasureKY -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 3:00:11 PM)

Some people don't like to quote because it can be redundant and cause a thread to be very long.  Others don't use it because they aren't sure how.

Never assume.  [;)]

Raechard -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 3:04:06 PM)

FR-2-TreasureKY[:D]

I have to assume some things in life we all do.

sammiebabygirl -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 3:41:17 PM)

Thanks for all the help so far. This is very interesting. I had forgotten about Ums. I figured what that meant, but again, did not understand why it was being used. Thanks Chained Existence, for clearing that one up for me.

I took "perved" as a mangelment f the word "peruse"

pe·ruse  [image]http://cache.lexico.com/g/d/premium.gif[/image]  [image]http://cache.lexico.com/dictionary/graphics/luna/thinsp.png[/image][image]http://cache.lexico.com/g/d/speaker.gif[/image]  /pəˈruz/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[puh-rooz] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object), -rused, -rus·ing.

1.
to read through with thoroughness or care: to peruse a report.

2.
to read.

3.
to survey or examine in detail.

Raechard -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 5:05:16 PM)

No it comes from the word Pervert i.e. –ert.

That be a fact.

usage:
Stop looking at my arse you pervert

Shorted to:

Stop looking at my arse you perv

And now said in jest in relation to profiles.

CuriousLord -> RE: Collarchat-ese (10/21/2007 5:53:07 PM)

Okay, here's a list, adding to CE's..

quote:

CM- CollarMe website
UM,  ums- Unmentionables- Your offspring. People want to be careful about mentioning them in connection with an adult topic.
LDR- Long Distance Relationship
D/s  Usually Domination/submission
LTR- Long term relationship
SO- Significant other
M/s-Master/slave
WIITWD- What it is that we do

I'd modify "UM" and "OP"
UM-  "UnMentionable".  The TOS (Terms Of Service) bar individuals from mentioning minors.  These are unmentionables.
OP-  "Original Post" or "Original Poster"

Some others I can think of..
TOS-  Terms Of Service
D/d-  Daughter/daughter
FR-  Fast reply (they only read the OP or a particular reply before responding)

"perv" comes from "pervert", as what a pervert does.  (A pervert pervs things.)  To perv a profile is to view it pervertedly.  This is often said a playful manner, and it suggests that the profile's owner is attractive enough as to inspire the perver to perv them.

With my ADD?  I'd be lucky to say it once before something that's shiny and/or beeps draws my attention away.
