I forget where from, but I know I'm quoting somebody, "garbage has every right to be garbage." Want a Biblical quote? "Judge not lest ye be judged." Without specifics I can only look at extremes. Either nobody judges or only one person judges. I'd rather we be tolerant of some stupid stuff than have a Hitler or Stalin as a judge. (Even if it is not Stalin or a "polit bureau" and is captain fantastic, how do we know a Stalin won't succeed him?) I know from experience this will not be popular, but it is right: All individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose. (Before a Dom/ina quibbles with the word "forcibly" answer how often you do non-consensual stuff.) In this I use Ben Franklin as an example. Ben Franklin was opposed to slavery. (Real slavery, non – consensual cotton field stuff.) He died arguing against it with the new US congress. He not only knew he was right, he was right. He knew that putting himself morally above slaveholders to judge them was a greater evil than slavery itself. This has a parallel in the gay marriage debate. (If I can get married by an Elvis impersonator would two lesbians tying the knot really threaten the sanctity of it?[:)]) I gently asked a married co-worker of mine who is opposed to gay marriage how another co-worker who is openly lesbian threatens her marriage. (Gently because leading a horse to water and drowning it is never a good idea.[:)]) Their latest argument is that next will be marriages between things like "A man and a dog" or "a man and his mother". My reply was if given all that as true (making clear that i'd contest it) would preventing that be worth denying the lesbian's spouse health insurance? She didn't answer but I could see the seed planted in her mind. To bring this back to "You have no right to judge me...." let me point out that the final answer must come from her. If I judge her and impose an answer that I feel is right it won't be final and i won't be respecting her as a person. Gee, this is long. You said you wanted opinions, right?[:D]
