Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but i couldn't find the answer searching the forums...

Is it possible to attach a text file to a message? i mean a message to another member, not on the discussions. i want to be able to send a text file (some fiction) to someone, but attempting to attach the file as one would a photo just gives an error. i could paste the content into the message box perhaps, but some stories are quite long and i'm not sure it would always work.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t think that is possible here because the attach photo option is limited to photos. There are some programmes available that can embed text within an image file and you could try one of those. The best option by far though is asking the other person to get a free www.Gmail.com or www.Hotmail.com account and send it direct.

I'm not sure if it'll work, since I have no experience with the picture attachment function (so I just don't know what kind they're using), but if they're using one where you download the file to view the picture..

You could..
-Turn "View known file extentions" on if it's not already.
-Change the extention to ".jpg" or another picture format
-Send it
-Have the recepiant change the extention back to ".txt

Or you could screen-shot the open text file and send that.. heh.

The easiest option probably is as Raechard mentioned- to use conventional email.

I did try this. Unfortunately it is too clever by half: somehow it checks the content to see whether it is an image format, and says, "Message was sent but photo attachment failed". It's probably a virus protection thing - so that folk don't send binaries or other non-image content.

I guess it's email then...

Thanks,

I have a friend who sends me very long stories embedded and they always come through.
