Or, perhaps the "OP" was trying to point out that a Bronze Age document that advocates stoning people at the drop of a hat should not be the text that guides our government. I know that the New Testament is supposed to supercede the OT, but there are large swaths of humanity (one third of the GOP) in this country that don't even understand this about their declared religion. Their constant obsession with homosexuality (which the New Testament does not seem to care about) is pretty clear evidence of this.

You deliberately cut the whole quote. At no point is there advocation for stoning at the drop of a hat. And, as I have already explained, no written records of ancient Israelites include any women being stoned for adultery, only the false accusers. Find us any record of children, meaning under the age of 13, being stoned for being drunkards. Because I'll bet any amount of money there isn't one. And yes, being the first literate people, the People of the Book, Bible coming from the Phoenician word for book for your information, Jews kept records.
