I have recently entered into a poly relationship with my Dom and his other sub…the only problem is that for eight months out of the year I am almost a thousand miles away at school. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas for daily rituals that might make the distance feel a bit more manageable?

Status: offline 		Take daily pictures of yourself in ritual positions (or any other fun photos you can think of that might please them) and post them in a private picasa web album. Picasa allows comments and notations, so not only does it give you that dose of daily sub yum, it also gives you something creative and fun to do. Good luck. Stick to your education.

Status: offline 		I'm only 100 miles away but my Lover texts me a "good morning" message daily and we almost always talk right before bed.  I feel much closer to him that way.

Status: offline 		One of the things I loved in my former LDR was watching web tv together (lots of shows are online). We'd im during the whole show, it was a nice way to spend the night together. (I know not really sub related but it's just a nice way to stay connected in a relationship).

Status: offline 		mail stuff. it doesn't have to be big; ex ( you're walking somewhere, you pick a flower, dry it, mail it with a little note ) you only spend for postage and it tells how they are still in your constant thoughts and you are still devoting time to them.

Status: offline 		i'm not in a LDR but i'm also not living with my Dom and vice versa. Some rules that we both came up with is:
   1. im him every night to let him know how your day went, what you did, what you did wrong, venting, etc.
   2. If you can, call him almost every day that he's at work just to check in and say hi.
   3. Talk to him online during the weekend

Those are my 3 basic and easy rules to follow, though i don't always follow them exactly. But maybe that might give you some idea on what to do. The rest i'd say talk to him to see what both of you can come up with on your own.

Status: offline 		Write and mail (and keep secret until he receives them) handwritten letters on pretty stationary. Make him a care package and mail it. Who doesn't love to get mail?

Status: offline 		Texts are always good and talking whenever you can.

I have a web cam and we used to arrange 'Dates' we would fix a time and id have to be all glammed up glass of wine in hand ready for it. The ritual of getting dressed is always half the fun anyways especially if He asked for something specific that i had to go buy (i always remember an incident with knee high socks and scouting all around town looking for a pair).

He had also set up an email address for me, he would occasionally (not every day) write to it normally simply saying contact me just to check that i was thinking about him and looking at the account.

I also wrote a diary for him which i tried to write every day and when i saw him gave to him.

He would give me silly little tasks to do, stuff like reading a certain section in a book or listening to a song at a certain time so we would both be doing the same thing at the same time.

Phone calls are really expensive in this situation especially if you rely on mobiles/cells so look into skype (sic) or having a microphone set up on your computer.

Thats all i can think of at the moment, but the idea of posting something or watching programs at the same time seems lovely :D

Status: offline 		I can sorta relate. I'm not a full 1000 miles away, but far enough that it makes it really hard to get away to her for more than a weekend, maybe two, a month. We try to stay in daily contact via IM, or phone calls (We both have contracts that allow for 80+ minutes a month of free long distance.) and there's our shared LiveJournal...

Some things I've done, although I've never done them regularly: 

Trading video tapes back and forth. (Aakasha wrote a wonderful short story involving this sort of long distance scening...) Where the dominant sends a video to the sub, commanding them through their paces.... and the sub is to videotape themselves watching the tape, and performing the commands on it.... then sending THAT tape back to the Dom.... Sure, maybe web cams would be easier, but somehow the clunkiness of the tap exchange just seems to make it hotter....

Making personal mix discs of new, favorite music. Stuff that makes you think of them, or them of you... or doing specific things to you....

Sending them books, clippings, short stories that you've read and found interesting....

Does he have a particular cologne, or you a particular perfume? Send each other samples.

"Packages from home" of cookies, cakes, home made recipies, soup mixes.... hell, even coupons or gift cards....

Generally, anything that makes them realize that they have been on your mind.... or that you've been on theirs.

Status: offline 		Master and I always talk everyday unless he is on travel business which he will manage to get connect so he can speak to me. Master always tries his very best to always stay in contact with me as he knows i miss him alot and vice versa.  At times, he will ask me to get on the cam for that special smile he likes.

Status: offline 		Wow!  those are some really great ideas.  i have never been able to really make a LDR work out.  I tried really hard with my last one, but he did ot communicate at all!!  How exactly is that supposed to work then, don't know and couldn't figure that one out. 

Alot of the ideas you suggested i did years ago for my ex-husband when he was in the Navy.  Boy did they make for some great phone calls when he got them!!

Status: offline 		Thank you to everyone for your stories and suggestions! My Dom and I went through all of them and came up with a few of our own, then chose the ideas that we thought would work for us.

1. I text Him good morning and goodnight everyday.
2. I post daily in my livejournal.
3. I post pictures of my everyday life in my photo account once a week.
4. On Sundays, we sit down and go through the week (what’s working for us and what’s not).

It’s a basic list and I’m sure it will be added to and edited, but it’s a start. We also just started talking by webcam, which is my personal favorite, because it makes the distance seem like nothing at all… Though I am still looking forward to three weeks from now when actually get to see Him again : ).

Status: offline 		i'm a newbie and in an ldr, well maybe it has another name but as new as i am im not sure how to label it.  i fell in love with Master before we had even shared our roles to eachother.....we were friends first and in a very short time, months, i gave myself to Him completely, and i'm fortnuate that He accepted me.   we've never met in person but correspond, im, text and call.  i have a Dom locally who assists in my training until Master and i can be together.  Is this an unusual arrangement?  I've read all over the web and seen this type of relationship.  can anyone offer some input?  gratefully, cs
