does it take to have a BDSM website?

I ask this question as someone who belongs to several, and never fails to be amused by the antics of some of the people on there.  Those that think it's ok to be a keyboard warrior, those that make random attacks that really make you think they're off the meds, and the sheer lunatic element that just do the most bizarre things!  Like complain because you looked at their profile.  WTF???

I was on a thread.  I looked at the profiles of several of the contributors, so I knew who I was talking to and what their perspective was likely to be.  What do I get for it?  A snotty memo.

Barking, some of the people on BDSM websites are completely and utterly barking.  And trust me, I have the qualifications to use technical terms like that!

After nearly forty-two years on this earth I have come to the following conclusion:  there are 6,000,000,000 people on the planet and 5,999,999,999 are barking mad lunitics.  Life is just a lot less confusing if you approach it from that persepctive.

Dear Ms Scarlet

I'm writing you because you mentioned you have the qualifications that might be required to diagnose my problem, and the insight needed to advise - at least going by your assumption that most people are barking, since my problem seems to be related.

For quite some time now, I have had the uncontrollable urge to sit in front on the fire and sleep. At my age perhaps, this is understandable. However, recently I've noticed more irresistible urges, which may or may not be related, if you can help?

The most recent episode occurred when a housefly came in through the window. I spotted it immediately, which isnt unusual of course. But very unusual was that I felt unable to resist chasing it, swatting after it. Then, when it settled on the ceiling, I sat for ten minutes, eyes locked on it and started making little chirping noises out of frustration.

Added to other symptoms, such as avoiding the sink and instead choosing to lick my hands (which have become rather hairy just lately), being captivated by the motion of the washing machine and jumping on others' laps are also rather bizarre of course and are getting out of paw, erm.... hand.

Now, at the same time I dont feel that I'm barking. The question is, am I miaowing?

E

On the other hand, I've heard it said that the reason so many people are "insane" is that they are the ONLY ones who seem to notice how insane reality is and they can't cope. So... if I get this right, they are insane because they are the sanest of us all. As a result, they can't figure all of us, who are calling sane the insanity of this world out and they simply give up trying. We then, in our infinitely insane sanely pretending wisdom, declare them insane so that we don't have to recognize just how sane we've proclaimed actual insanity to be. The really really sane ones, we call dangerously insane and lock them away so that they won't interfere with our insanity in any sort of sane manner.

Frighteningly close to reality!

I still remember my first class on psychology.  The lecturer asked us what made the difference between him and us.  What gave him the power to say that we were all insane and he wasn't.  He described a scenario where he alone saw a snake on the floor and reacted and we didn't, so he diagnosed us all as insane.  He then described the opposite, that we all saw the snakes all over the floor but he didn't, again he told us we were the insane ones.

His final answer on what the difference is?  An A4 sheet of paper signed and framed on his wall which states he has the right to practice psychology and declare others insane.
