How did the Masters and Doms here get their start? How did you know BDSM was for you?

How did it all begin?

I will speak (only evasively) for some segment whos representaion on this site I cannot fathom.

It would be against TOS (and prolly the law) for me to tell you that, but some of it was fantasy and some reality.........then more and more reality.

I got my first taste of the lifestyle when I was 18.
A woman I was seeing was a submissive and loved my Alpha Male characteristics.
We played... role played... and she explained the lifestyle to me.
We saw each other on an eratic basis for a while only to drift apart.
A couple of years later, after playing with a few more ladies of the submissive persuasion... some were and some were not admited submissives... I started a nice relationship with a young lady who fit well with me.
It was a D/s relationship... altho it was not a confirmed out of the closet one.
Since then I have dabbled with Dom behavior in my relationships, but now have what I believe to be the perfect submissive/slave for me.

The first try isnt always sucessful, hell... the first few may not be.... and SOME... may never totally get it right.

Try it, dont get frustrated, and learn from whatever happens.
You WILL use it later.

I came into it via Gor. Prior to that, I didn't want to know anything about it.

How did you get into that?

I mean, how did you make the move from reading the books to finding the sub-community?

greetings....

In my case, finding the community was via a local BDSM web site run by a guy who also was part of an IRC Gorean channel. From there I dropped the mostly BDSM side and concentrated on the Gorean side which is what I had sort of been looking for through BDSM but now know isn't there. I was luckier than most. I found the real Goreans the first place I went to on-line.

be well....

Introspection.

You have to look inside yourself, to find firstly, why are you interested in it.
Once you're sure, then you can ask youself, what are you? Are you a Dom/Domme? Sub? Switch?
Come to reckoning with what are you interested in the lifestyle for... Is it Power Exchange? Pure Erotic Play? Discipline? Don't let anybody else tell you what your "kinks" are :)
And don't get me wrong, these can change over time. You just need to make sure that you are with a compatible person, with whom you can safely explore them.

Once you've done all of these things, and you are not scared, freaked out, emotionally scarred, then I would say it's safe to rely on the lifestyle community resources to look for someone who is a good match for you, Dom or sub, if you haven't been lucky enough to already know or be involved with someone who shares your interest.

Simple, the Gorean Community I was part of was a role-playing community on MSN. The specific leader of our group was also a Pro Domme in Canada. I was already known in a few D/s chat rooms where I used to counsel and learn for interest and meet up with a few RP friends. In Gor, both in RP and in r/l I learned the beauty of slaves and thus my interest was generated. I had a couple of very good mentors who were also vets who helped me rid myself of personal daemons and misconceptions about BDSM (they were and still are BDSM Masters). On a practical aspect, I have several good friends in the local community; one is a mentor for me. It was a gradual process based on an original view of mine. If I want to own a slave in real life, I’d better have a good working knowledge of BDSM in case she as an interest in it as well as a greater variety of areas for play and enjoyment together. My love for it grew from those simple beginnings.

I wish you well.

Before you share anymore....read the post he has on the boards titled "Script". A little tidbit of information that he neglected to share up front is that he intends to use all of the info he gets here in a screenplay.

I think i was the first or one the very first people to question him on his motives. If only people listened.

greetings,

I found the "lifestyle" quite on accident, when I was at work one day and got an unusual IM on my yahoo msgr "are you seeking a master?" my reply after I decided I was too curious to just delete the IM box was "master of what?" that started off a long dialog that lasted for two months. And I learned that my fantasies and dreams of being made a mans captive could be real.

I looked around in the BDSM community for a year or so, but was never able to find something beyond "playtime" and I was left feeling "used" and not in a good way... I wanted to feel the bonds of slavery to the depths of my soul.

Now, 2 years later I am 10 months in steel, and totally enslaved to a wonderful Gorean Master. My life has changed dramatically for the better.

I wish all well, and happiness.

edana,

did you always feel that women should obey, based on the gorean lifestyle?

well, like many before me. I feel that the female of the human race is by in large submissive to the male. Not everyone shares my views, but for many... i do believe that the inclination to find a strong male and seek the comfort of his fire. (aka: protection and guidance) is a desire that was handed down many many generations. the instinct is so old that we are unable to quantify it with rational prose.

I only know that in my life, i was a "pleaser" and vulnerable to men whom I deemed my natural "superior". This does not mean that i fell at the feet of every man that walked my way. It does mean that i usuall fell into "bed" with him, as I saught to make him my "master". (allow me to please you...) most men of today, who are still living a life based on the corrupt structure of modern society, fall prey to the standard that they "must" have a woman to be happy. and therefor spend much of their "wooing" of women... behaving like women or behaving like little boys who need a mother. (after all it is what worked for them as they were young boys growing up)

How do you know a man loves a women... he behaves like a man!

To answer your question... I obeyed my father, now i obey my master.

In service,

edana
