Yeah, I knew that title might get some of you. <wink>

The real topic is this. I'm doing a demo next month and have been asked to write a bio so the event can be promoted. My question is, what do you think is the good information to put into one? Have you written one for yourself? What do you find eye catching when you read someone else's?

Personally, I don't happen to think writing about Myself is one of My strong points. (If you remember right, for the longest time, My profile said "I'll write about Myself later.") Does anyone have any helpful hints?

Since I do not know you well I can't really comment on what you should put in your bio, however, as an event producer, I have copies of several bios for this type of thing I would be happy to share with you, if you are interested. Just drop me a note and I will reply. Unfortunately I am leaving for a few hours and will not able to do so until later this evening.

You need to include any information that is relevant to what you are doing a demo on.

For example if it is anything to do with BDSM you need to mention how long you've been doing BDSM and how much experience you have with what you will be demonstrating. If you belong to any organizations in the past or currently mention them and the number of years you were in them as well as any offices you held. If you have publications on BDSM list these. And if you are in current success kink relationship I always mention that for two reasons: backs up that your experience is real and makes your partner(s) blush at being mentioned.

Include how long you'v been in the scene and the type of enviroment you "grew up" in in the scene...some say "old guard" others will name cities or talk about FemDom culture.

Then do a short overview of the demo...

this is what I tend to get out there for my demos...however I had a great one written for me at one point, here it is:

Who: boi jen and Ms. Kitty Black
What: Exhibition Style Single Tail & Advanced Whip Skills Demo
When: August 11, 2007 6:00pm
Why: Demonstrations, Lessons, Skills Building, and Continued Education
Where: Location available upon RSVP (location will be approx. a 60
minute drive east of the XXXXXX area)

To RSVP send $10 for Non-XXXXXXX Member entrance to Paypal account
XXXXXXX

NO cash will be accepted at the venue.

Details

boi jen has performed and demonstrated her skills in wielding

I appreciate your difficulty in writing about yourself. I think many of us share that little problem. Where to start? How do I avoid sounding conceited?

Sounds like a good project to "hand-off" to your sub. He probably knows you well enough to know your credentials, the event, and your expertise in the subject you are demonstrating.

Usually Bios include length of time in BDSM, past and current affiliations with relevant organizations, and personal tid bits to make the Bio more personal. Typically a description of the demo or seminar accompanies the Bio.

Here is one from a recent event:

Sea

Sea has been part of the Austin organized BDSM scene for almost 10 years, and has participated in various BDSM events across the country. He has been chairing the Austin chapter of The Next Generation for 3 1/2 years and his past contributions include arranging fetish nights for 3 years. Other relevant interests and activities include writing fetish shows, DJing scene music, and fetish photography. He regularly participates in discussions about BDSM and presents at group meetings and conventions. His latest undertaking is stand-up comedy for a BDSM audience.

Understanding Service

This interactive seminar discusses the psychology of service that attempts to provide convenience to the Dominant: domestic service, personal service, etc. It discusses what motivates one to enjoy such service, and what can enhance or deflate that motivation. It addresses some common concerns dominants have about receiving such service.

Demystifying Humiliation

What is the difference between embarrassment, humiliation, and degradation? What types of activities fall under humiliation play and why do people enjoy it?
