Im lucky enough to have one, and was just wondering what exactly deferentiates a training collar from a real one? and how long is this training period? (although I guess thats up to my Dom) So I guess my question should be, how long was your training period before the actual collar was on?

Status: offline 		You accepted a training collar without knowing what exactly it is or how long it lasts? Go ask the one who collared you what it is and what it means to them. Then figure out if it means the same thing to you.

Personally, I don't use a training collar. I either own her or I don't. There is no inbetween.

Status: offline 		Just wondering why you say you are lucky enough to have one when you dont know what one is? Its a bit like the term 'under consideration' the Dominant is deciding whether or not you are worth the effort, though i think for a lot its simply  to add suspense i know that a few use it to play subs off against each other and stuff by giving them training collars or calling them under consideration. I would say ask your Domme what it means to her

Status: offline 		I often wish people would realize, prior to passing judgment, that there are more types of relationships out there than just the ones they themselves would persue. Not all relationships are, "I own you." Some relationships are about training. Some collars do signify a relationship where the submissive/slave is not owned, but being trained by someone. For all intents and purposes, to the outside world, the collar itself is no different than an ownership collar, in that it means other people should not assume the s is free. What the collar means to the people involved is between them.

I agree with others in wondering why anyone would accept a collar (or request a collar) if s/he has no idea what it signifies.

Color me boggled,

Status: offline 		My Dom/Daddy gave me a collar.. but he doesn't call it anything but "your collar".  He says, and I have to agree training is ongoing, as I am always learning something new.  I've heard the term "collar of consideration", "training collar" and a whole bunch of other terms out there, so I don't know what anybody in any other relationship does, but for us, it's simply my collar. I don't care what they call it, he is mine, and I am his.

Status: offline 		Ok, i can sort of tell you what a training collar, in old guard also what I believe it to be... I can't tell you what your prospective owner takes it to mean.  There are some that believe in levels of collars, sort of like in a vanilla relationship you have an engagement ring and then a wedding band.  A training collar (to me atleast) is like an engagement ring.  You agree to be with each other, but the legal and final ending has not come.  And yes folks in the good old days an engagement ring was a training period prior to marriage just like those old hope chests and miss manner books.  You are learning to please the one you serve and at the same time they are learning about you and how you serve. 

I have to laugh at those who said it's BS and such, well maybe they don't believe in them, which is fine for them.  Maybe they don't believe in training a sub/slave to serve them the way they want, or perhaps they do but.... anyhow, that is what a training collar is.

You should have asked when you received it.  As for the length of time well, I have known people who have never gotten out of a training collar LOL, but then I know people who were engaged for 10 yrs before they felt ready for a committment

Hope this helped in some way.  And no I wasn't passing judgement, just a different view :)

Training collar - He is over asked by girls not in relationships for him to train them. These girls are given his training collar.

Consideration collar - Like an engagement ring

Permanent collar - Wedding ring

Status: offline 		My personal definition of a training collar is a collar that is given by a Dominant who doesn't want you to play with others, however, the said Dominant does not wish to collar you either.  This way the Dominant gets your exclusive services without making any sort of committment.
