Am I the only person on the face of the planet who thinks shibari is very similar to making macrame pot holders?[&:]

Ask and you shall receive! "Shibari You Can Use: Japanese Rope Bondage and Erotic Macrame" by Bridgett Harington [:D]

A friend of mine kept on making fun calling me a "kinky Martha Stewart" when a mentor of mine was in town. He (mentor-like person) just kept repeating "It's macrame!!!!"

ROFLMAO!!!! Thank god I'm not the only one!!!

In general, i get the impression that Female Dominants are less likely to use bondage in a scene than Male Dominants are.

So what are you observing or using as the basis for this judgement?

Personally, I find it horribly wrong, but I've only been around the SM community for oh.....11 or 12 years.  Perhaps there's a corner of the world where no domina ties a male sub that I've overlooked.

If there was't bondage I wouldn't be into all of this. [:)] I need it.

Lurking various online discussions since 1994. A couple years involved in local munch groups. Handful of play parties. Enough porn to drop a Cape Buffalo. i didn't say that i never see bondage used by FemDoms or that every MaleDom uses it all the time... just that MaleDoms seem more inclined to use it, and with greater complexity.

Perhaps no. [8|]

i loved the moment i first realised that being tied i was going nowhere, and the smile on Her face as She knew that i had finally worked it out, with no words spoken.

It also crossed my mind that Male Dominants may be drawn to bondage just because men like gadgets.

I am giggling.  When my Lady and I first got together, my best friend of many years and former roomie was waving us off.  She said, "This is so sad, I'm so happy but.... (long pause, then her face brightens) ... but you are LESBIANS! You will have POWER TOOLS!" (She was thinking about her house and repairs, lol).

My Lady loves gadgets.  And she likes using restraints because she likes to watch the struggle as she steps up sensation beyond the place where it's "vigorous massage" and into "owwie! I'll be good!"  I just live in dread that someone will start combining flashlights (she collects 'em) with sex toys! [;)]

Can't live without bondage.

One of my very early scenes, I had some guy tied to his bed, mask, all that stuff.  I said "You look SO fabulous right now, I wish I had a camera!"  The look on his face (what of it you could see) was PRICELESS!

LadyPact -> RE: Is bondage less common in Femdom/malesub play than M/f? (10/28/2007 3:05:43 PM)

I'm not so much into the rope bondage.  I always have difficulty with My nails for some reason.  Also, by the end of the scene, I'm usually so high in Top space that I can't get the poor boy untied.

Other types of restraints..... That's a big definite YES.  There is nothing like putting My boy in his wrist and ankle cuffs and attatching him to the cross.  (Have to love those double latched hooks for quick and easy securing.)  I love having the complete control over him that physical and mental bondage bring.  When he gets a particularly good lash, I just love telling him to stay put.

OK, so no one is getting tied up with computer wires.

Most munches are vanilla, clothed and in a public place.  No one's getting tied there.

And you saw not a single femdom doing bondage?  Interesting...

Come on now -- porn is the basis for your reality?

My experience says otherwise.  My friends and I were doing rope karada and kani before hemp was popular in the US.  Midori -- 'nuff said.  Plenty of femdoms I know -- lifestylers, not the pros and folks in porn -- are doing intricate, long term bondage with shrink wrap and tape and saran wrap and rope and body bags, latex vacuum beds, leather locking bodysuits, etc.   Attending large lifestyle events -- I've found plenty of fem doms use bondage in their scenes in comparison to male doms, and there's not even a geographic disproportion.  I saw just as much bondage in Portland as I did in Minnesota as I did in Florida, as I did in Toronto, as I did in Amsterdam, as I did in Texas.

Perhaps it's the types of events and parties that you're attending or that your expectations are different than my own?  I don't expect to see bondage with sissy maids, feminization, ageplay or worship scenes...so the lack of bondage in those circumstances is not "odd" to me.  Perhaps the population of those parties was high in terms of D/s only people not into bondage/discipline stuff?

Bluebird -> RE: Is bondage less common in Femdom/malesub play than M/f? (10/29/2007 3:27:35 AM)

Speaking just for me, bondage is a MUST for any play session.  I like long, detailed, intricate rope bondage - and yes, it is an end in itself.  I'm not tying him to get him in any specific position other than helpless.  The positions I like best are usually not ones he can stay in for extended periods of time, but no worries, I can untie and reposition him.  His submission to me means (in part) that he will willingly, if not cheerfully, stand, sit, or lie as directed while I do my weaving.  I think he finds the reward of my pleasure to be worth his discomfort [:D]

If I am administering an actual flogging or whipping, I generally have him unbound.  But administering pain is far less erotically satisfying to me than a gentle but thorough bondage session.

And I'm a gadget and computer nut too - wonder if the engineer brain is epidemic among rope tops?

....from my experience i would also generally agree with this- was once explained to me that the reason is that girls look just so much better in bondage than most guys!--- it could be generally true and what we are seeing here is self-selected Dommes logging in who actually also do like it.....???
