-Victorian household Although the House Steward was head of the domestic staff, Majordomo usually has masculine implications and by most definitions is: ”A steward or butler, a man in charge of a great household, as that of a sovereign; a chief steward” -Old guard or poly household In poly households with rank, the alpha slave or first is a term I see commonly used. -“Kadin” origins of rank The origins of having a rank of first comes from structure in harems. Although the harem women which included all from the Sultan’s mother to the kitchen maids were technically slaves, they were not of equal rank. Rank was guarded jealously in the harem. Woman who bore children were a rank of kadin. The kadin was second in rank only to the Sultan’s mother (Sultana). The highest ranking kadin is the mother of the Sultan's "first" son. -My BDSM households It always seemed to me that lady of the house would be the female counterpart to Master of the house. In the past, I referred to my primary/alpha as my lady. i. e. “lady J” or “lady T”.
