LOL   yes I do get a chuckle when I see the uproar that certain words cause, especially from  those that get upset, become insulting, obnoxious and  don't bother listening to the POV  of why used, on  a public forum the responses can speak volumes about the person uttering.  them.

But in a way it is no different than being a parent or grandparent and having a child use a word that may be innapropriate without them understanding the meaning of, there are basically 3 options - ignore but chances are the child will continue to use until someone else tells them otherwise, explain why it is wrong to use to help enrich their knowledge, or slap/punish or berate them for using and in the process possibly make the child insecure about expressing themselves for fear of being berated again or punished for making a mistake since it was not explained why the usage was wrong.      The same problems exist for adults learning new terminologies or even ideas, one has the options  to ignore, explain and welcome in them into  community with aid/friendship or drive them possibly out or prevent them from asking further questions that would assist them in their growth.

Words don't bother me.. (looking nervously askance)... it's the sticks and stones that concern me...

I don't get to inflamed over the words that people chose to express their ideas; I tend to get more inflamed over the ideas that they express with said words.

Eh Dnomyar (omg, I just "got" your handle) ...

Getting whipped up over a word and not knowing the background / context is built into us from guzzling the news like we do. Remember 1984's 60-second hate? We hear hot-button words and phrases and incorporate them and respond to them whether or not we actually agree with it. Only thing is, we're so inundated with it that it becomes a trigger with no real oomph to the explosion.

Loved this post.

I think words trigger emotions (often times unresolved emotions) in people that are brewing just beneath the surface, waiting for an invitation to the outside.

A lot of my former trigger-words were baggage related.  Now I see words as words.  It's the intent behind them that has my interest.

Its True! Its True! Oh sooo True, True, True, True! I dont think it could be any more True given how True it is. True, True, True, True, True, True, True, True, True!

...and speaking of no real oomph to the explosion...

What word/words get you worked up and why?

Words: "Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!"
Why: I get tired of putting my hair out.
