camille65 -> Hands On, Clothes Off? (10/30/2007 9:37:19 AM)

I nearly made a new user name to ask this question because I feel like a total idjit! However no one here actually knows me so I am spared genuine embarrassment. Hehe.
Okies:
I'm going to Vegas for Xmas yay yay fun times. I want to use the hotel spa but here is the rub. (get it? rub/massage? [:)])

Spa etiquette? I've spent untold hours Googling but cannot find what I seek. Jeez I swear I'm blushing right now lol. Can someone walk me through the experience please? Precision is what I seek, what precisely do I do??
Do I get totally naked?
Will the masseuse freak over my cellulite?
Do I shave my bikini line extra well?
Do they whip off the sheet and leave me exposed to the world?
How do and when do I tip?
If it hurts should I speak up or suck it up?
Do I bring my own robe n slippers?

Sigh, if you think this is goofy just wait until I post my Las Vegas wardrobe questions haha. Yeah yeah I need to get out more, I am aware of that.

Spa?

1. Channel your Inner Diva, Sister!

If you wanna be naked, drop the sheet. They may charge extra for this, or need to bring in a specialist.
No, they won't freak out about your body. They're being paid not to freak out about your body.
If you want, I'm sure they can arrange a waxing.
Whatever you wanna pay for, it's Vegas.
You give people small amounts of money, all the time, it's Vegas.
You could moan in pleasure. Again, this may require a specialist, and/or incur additional charges.
I certainly hope not! Unless you have a robe/slippers combo you REALLY must have ( see #1. )

Where you going?

After much debate and research I chose the MGM Grand. I'm going with my ex husband which is totally weird lol. We have an entire week there including xmas day! So far I just have tix for one show but there are loads I want to see and do. Including the spa experiences [:D]
Thankies fargle.

Mercnbeth -> RE: Hands On, Clothes Off? (10/30/2007 10:02:43 AM)

beth is the "expert" but she's gotten me to take massages at many spas. I'm not a good "relaxer". I'm uncomfortable just lying there and being "done". I'm an active participant and have difficulty even just laying by the pool. However - with that said, massages and the whole 'spa' scene is a great experience.

The first thing you have to do is to decide what kind of massage you want. You'll get a "menu" and the range goes from "deep tissue" to "hot rocks". For example here's one from one of our favorite spas located at the Venetian in Las Vegas: Click here to download a .pdf version of Canyon Ranch SpaClub Menu.

The most interesting "massage" we got was a 'Rasul". Here's the description:
quote:

The Rasul chamber is an ornately tiled steam room that intermittently steams and showers "rain" from a fiber optic "night" sky. The Rasul Ceremony (50 minutes - $125) involves self-applied mud, steam and rain followed by an application of specially blended oils in a luxurious European enveloping bed. The Rasul Ritual (110 minutes - $225) involves dry brushing the skin, an herbal soak, the Rasul Ceremony, and application of nourishing oils coupled with a relaxing massage.

It was FANTASTIC! We loved it so much we wanted to get a home version of the 'Rasul' chamber. Note - The first part isn't really isn't a "massage". You spread different color muds on each other in a steam chamber. You are alone during this part of the "ceremony". We provided our own "happy finish"!

To your questions:
what precisely do I do?? Once you make a decision you do nothing but relax and enjoy.
Do I get totally naked? Yup right down to any neck jewelry - but you'll never be on display. The masseuses are experts at keeping all the private parts private. Its quite the trick when they ask you to turn over. However if naked doesn't bother you - it won't bother them. btw - at most places you get to pick the gender of your masseuse.
Will the masseuse freak over my cellulite? NO - Trust us - you won't be unique.
Do I shave my bikini line extra well? Only if you, or your Master/Mistress require it.
Do they whip off the sheet and leave me exposed to the world? NO. But if the spirit moves you go ahead and whip it off yourself!
How do and when do I tip? Same as you would for any service. We've tipped from 10% - 40% of the cost. Careful - some place have the tip included. ASK. Remember a 'happy finish' is extra.
If it hurts should I speak up or suck it up? Speak up! Not only if it's too hard, but too soft too. It's a 'safe-word' environment.
Do I bring my own robe n slippers? No - they are provided and most places also provide a locker.

ENJOY!

Edited to add: After the OK button was hit I saw this article with a review of the Venetian's spa. I thought you may find it insightful. http://spas.about.com/cs/usdayspasnv/l/aa121999.htm

Ha... Vegas is great and I have been a lot.  Yeah, take it off and get comfortable.  In a hotel spa you will likely get a draped massage where you are naked under a towel that is folded to uncover the area that they are working on. It will spend much of your alloted time covering your butt only.  If you act totally comfortable they will give you a better massage, and if you think of it like a scene and don't hide your responses it will go better.  I wouldn't moan "OH Jesus, stick your thumb up my ass", but some response will be fine.  Remember these people have seen it all and get solicited for prostitution on an hourly basis.  They are tough, and they are not going to be shocked that something that they do feels good to you.  Nor shocked if you get aroused and they can tell that you are.  They see it all the time.  You will not likely get an offer of a happy ending in a major hotel there but it does happen from time to time.  It is appropriate to tip at the end of the session and how generous that you wish to be is up to you.  NOTE.  Some massage therapists are not tippable or are offended by a tip, but they don't do well in Vegas where the whole world runs on tips.  If you should by any chance get such a therapist he or she will let you know with a sign on thier case or a note in the add etc. Tip like you would a hair dresser generally. I could go into detail about all of the various ins and out of it, but feel free to message me and I will answer any direct question with out condescention or judgement:-)  I also have many travel tips about vegas and I can tell you which shows are cool and which buffets rock etc., so feel free to write and ask...

If the spa is a good one, they`ll have snacks and refreshments there for you, maybe some tea or coffee.

You`ll get a robe and slippers, and (if they are a good outfit)will have a nice shower/steamroom for you.

Then you`ll wait for your masseur, to take you into a private room.

Take off the robe and start with a face down, prone position.He/she will probably lay a towel over your butt. It`s really up to you how naked you want to be.They won`t be bashful,so you do what you want.

She`ll start with your shoulders and neck,(usually) and work down your back, arms and hands. There`s a lot of tension stored right at the base of the skull, where the neck muscles attach.

He/she will work your lower back ,butt and legs, all the while shifting the towel. Then your calves and feet get the business.

Flip time.She`ll/he`ll help you turn onto your back, face up,and it starts all over again. If she`s good, she`ll work your neck and shoulder muscles, with a deep, lifting technique, reaching under and drawing up and out towards the base off your head.Fall into this and relax.

It`ll end with your feet again.

Now is when you should just lay there, and dose for a few moments.
They shouldn`t rush you out or be in a hurry.

Now,take another shower,(if you want)and enjoy the buzz.

Ohgosh thank you to everyone, the information will really help put me at ease. The spa part is something I've been looking forward to for a long time.

Unfortunately I think I just got some bad news. My ex tested positive for THC, he is on probation for a DUI (his first ever) and apparently was stupid enough to smoke pot. Sigh. If he can't go I am out a chunk of money cuz I was the one using my credit card. Dammit I don't want to go alone but the tix are not transferrable to another name. Aw man I am really unhappy right now, talk about swinging from high to low!

Im so angry at him, he just whines about how it isn't his fault and about how the system is picking on him. No sympathy from me cuz I detest people that drink n drive.

But.. I really don't want to go alone lol. I'm super shy and this was a big step for me, the nightclubs and stuff. Crud I'm crying so... thanks for the information.

I'm going for a walk in the woods. [:o]

You DEFINITELY want to take in Zumanity, if you can as well.   Great show!

And yeah, they don't care if you are starkers or wearing  your boxers, so to speak.  Just relax and enjoy.  But don't expect that "local massage" either.  They are licensed and professional.   And generally, nice folks too.
